grossmont college waiting list

I've been on the Grossmont waiting list for a year and a half now. Estimated start date is fall of 2007...anyone else?? I mainly see posts from people in programs or people still taking pre req's. Looking for others in limbo here in san diego like myself.

Well i certainly will not be starting this fall! I still have more than 40 people ahead of me on the wait list. I asked the nursing department why I was told to take the teas and they said I was within the limit but more people than expected took it this time...so I got bumped further down. I said what about spring? I was told it was unlikely...what about fall 09?....Still won't tell me for sure! If I don't get in by fall 09 I must look for another major, I'm getting too old for this. THREE YEARS IS A LONG TIME! ok I feel a little better now.

That is one thing that I did not like about Grossmont. They wouldn't tell me anything about my placement on the waiting list. They do not update their lists at all like other schools do. If they did, I'm sure they would have a better idea of when students are likely to start.

You never know if some students like myself are on other waiting lists, so you might get in.When I called in January, they told me that I also might have to wait until next Spring but I'm in for the Fall. I have yet to decide which school I will attend since I also got in at SD City. I will most likely go to City because Grossmont's orientation falls right in the middle of a vacation that I have planned. I hate to think that I have to choose a school because I can't make it to the orientation which is mandatory.

Hang in there and don't give up. You're sooo close! :)

do you have an externship or anything lined up over the summer? or do you guys have class over the summer? just curious. no one has been able to line up a summer externship in our class, so i'm wondering if anyone did in your class.

No, no one in my class has a summer externship, but a few of us are going to take our acls class during the summer. Most of the places I looked at wanted 4th semester students.

I called the nursing office today and inquired about the science recentcy requirement. The requirement is in the last 5 years from the date of your application. So if you took it year one, and then you applied in year three and waited for two years, you still have met the science requirement.

Also, I spoke with one of the head counselors at Grossmont regarding the waitlist. She had a student that was told the same 2-3 years and got in last semster after only waiting 1 1/2 years. So, since so many people are now putting their names in everywhere and taking what first comes up, the lists are moving pretty quickly. once a person gets in, they are not calling to cancel. KWIM.
