I also applied to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center new grad program but I did not get an interview. For any of you that did, are you BSNs, did you already pass NCLEX?

Just curious to know what type of candidate they did like. Thanks!`

When did you apply to their program--Santa Clara Valley Medical Center? Do you know if they are still accepting people. I did not hear about that one....

I applied in mid-to-late December. I believe it closed December 30th. I had set up a job alert reminder on their website and it sent me an email letting me know the application was up. They seem to "grade" your application and give you a percent. If you were above a certain percentage I assume you got an interview, below I guess not.

Loma 6685- thanks. Too bad I missed out on that one. Do you know of anywhere else that has openings now?

Wish I did but not at the moment.

I just keep checking the websites of local hospitals. Also, I call every few weeks just to make sure I am not missing something on the web page. Sometimes the new grad listings are sneaky and listed for such a short time frame if you don't check daily you miss it. It's just a waiting game in the Bay Area right now. It will work out eventually.

So true. Good advice. Thanks. Those new grad postings are soooo tricky to find. I think they do it on purpose! Oh well! Trying to stay positive Good luck to you!!

I also applied in mid-December. I did not make it but received an email saying that I have rank position: group of qualified candidates who does not warrant an interview at this time. I have BSN, apparently it is not enough. I talked to lorinda gomez, nursing recruiter.
She explaned that they accept former CNAs or LVN first. :-(

I received that same email. I also have a BSN and to be honest was a bit surprised i didn't get an interview. Reading that piece of information really clears things up. Thanks for sharing!

Yes, I applied to Wash Hosp. It sounded like it would be awhile before they get back to anyone since they have 425 applications to go through. My job hunt began 10 months ago and so far, nada.

Okay not sure if anyone else who doesn't have a job get a feeling that we may not have a job until the summer. The other New Grad programs I researched aren't starting until June/July. OMG I am going to lose mind.

Just b/c hospitals aren't offering 'new grad' programs, doesn't mean that they're not hiring new grad RN's.... just a thought.
