Well, it seems that all of us have ties to the Central Valley.

I was in Bakersfield for 10 days this month, visiting my Mom and Dad. I flew back to Texas a few days ago.

Hi NurseAnn! Happy New Year! I'm about to start at Kaweah Delta, and I wanted to know about your opinion of the hospital. I'm moving from SF, and honestly, I don't know much about the hospital or area. How is working for the district? And do you have any advice which neighborhood is safe to live for a single woman in Visalia? I don't have a car at the moment (planning to buy later, but I have a bycicle ), so needs to around the hospital. I know SW part is better than N...Thank you so much!

Welcome to the area! When do you start? I have worked for the district over 4 years, some of while in nursing school, and since graduating 2 years ago. I work in the NICU and love it there. I have heard good things about the ICU program. The district is like any other hospital, it has its good points, and bad points....but I am just thankful to have gotten hired on as a new grad 2 years ago, and thankful to have a job in this economy sometimes!

As far as what areas to live in, SW is best. Are you looking to rent an apartment or a house? Is it just you, or do you have children too?

Best of luck and let me know if you have any more questions.

Thank you very much for the quick response, NurseAnn! I'm looking to rent an apartment somewhere the hospital. I've have a boyfriend,no children, but he'll be staying in San Francisco (has job there and cannot move) live in Bay area, so it will be only me. I've been looking for a job for some time (about 6 months or so), and I'm very happy to be accepted in the ICU program. But to be honest, I'm little bit scared to move away from him and Bay area-I don't know anything about Visalia (I did research forums and web about the Visalia). People are so friendly though and I love that! Do you live in Visalia? Would you mind to tell me specific neighborhoood/streets(sorry! even with all the info I've gathered about the area, I'm kind of confused) around the hospital (about a mile or so) where would be safe to live for a single girl? down Tulare ave maybe? I'm heading to Visalia next week. Thank you again!!!
