California License by Endorsement

Published

Hey everyone,

Just wondering if anyone can tell me how long it took for get a California license by endorsement?

I mailed my application in at the beginning of February 2016 (I also paid for the temp license).

Online it says 10 to 12 weeks for license by endorsement and Temp license says 4-6 weeks.

I don't know how accurate that is so I wanted to see how long it took other people.

I have a job waiting for me but I don't know if I'll make there by the start date in May.

Thanks!

It took me from them receiving my packet on November 18th until February 26 to receive my license by endorsement (didn't apply for temp license).

It took about 7 weeks for me. I mailed the application to the CA BRN on June 10th and was issued a permanent CA RN license by endorsement on July 28th. However, this took place back in 2011.

Thanks for you response!

How do you know that the board has received your application? should I call to find out? I heard they are terrible at answering phone calls.

They don't give you notice when they have received it. They will send you a letter requesting a second fee of $150 (yes, in addition to the application fee you already paid), then after you send that you can expect to see your license in the mail approximately 4 to 6 weeks after.

Although, I sent mine certified mail so I got the little slip stamped and returned to me via postal mail verifying they received my application.

Sorry, I misunderstood. Thought you meant if they mail you a letter stating they received it.

Really? Im confused. What's the other 150$ for? I never heard of that.

i sent my application on February 5th with my temp license fee too.

I sent it as a money order so the money was taken out of my account that day. according to my tracking number, it was delivered to the office on February 8th but I don't know if it has been cashed yet.

One fee is the "initial application fee" and the other is "initial license fee"

This is incorrect.

I applied for a temp/license by endorsement last April, and it took until August 2015 to receive my temporary. They wanted to verify my education, even tho I had been licensed in Texas for over 10 years. They lost my transcripts 7 times, and finally in Feb of this year my permanent license posted.

Total cost was 199

I believe they take their time when you apply for the temporary with it, it makes them extra money.

You need to make sure you get certified return receipts for any correspondence you have with the board. They lose things....a lot.

It may be different for LVNs.

The $150 fee pertains to LVNs who are dealing with the California BVNPT, not RNs who are dealing with the California BRN.

I already sent all my paper work. I didn't know I could get certified return receipts. I haven't heard anything from them regarding my paper work or application. Maybe I'll try calling them at 8 am tomorrow and cross my fingers that someone picks up. Thanks for your advice.
