Canadian RN moving to california
Hey! i know this thread is a few years old, but I'm just wondering if any of my fellow Canadians made it to California? I've had such a stressful year with this whole process of getting to California because everything is so so so slow. Long story short, I have a job offer in LA that keeps getting delayed because I don't have my license yet. So I'm stuck in Toronto. I sent my application in to the BON in February. I have a feeling they're going to decline me based on a lack of pediatric hours. Did anyone find a school that accepted you for just peds courses? What did you guys do? My hearts been set on California since the first time I visited family there over ten years ago. Any advice on this topic would be extremely helpful and appreciated! thanks!

california license by endorsement
Congrats on finalllyyyyyy getting your license! I know it's such a long process. I'm in the middle of it right now too. I sent my application February 5th. I heard back from the board a month ago about sending them a copy of my SSN, diploma and license in Ontario (I'm a Canadian RN). They also wanted the school to confirm acouple courses and my OB/Peds hours. I'm just wondering if you have heard of anyone getting declined a license due to a lack of OB or Pediatric clinical hours. I had just under 100 OB hours and no pediatric hours because I didn't have a Pediatric placement while in school. However I work with peds all the time in emergency. Does everyone in the states get both OB and peds placement? thanks for reading!

California License by Endorsement
I already sent all my paper work. I didn't know I could get certified return receipts. I haven't heard anything from them regarding my paper work or application. Maybe I'll try calling them at 8 am tomorrow and cross my fingers that someone picks up. Thanks for your advice.

California License by Endorsement
Really? Im confused. What's the other 150$ for? I never heard of that. i sent my application on February 5th with my temp license fee too. I sent it as a money order so the money was taken out of my account that day. according to my tracking number, it was delivered to the office on February 8th but I don't know if it has been cashed yet.

california license by endorsement
I sent a money order (from canada) on February 5th and according to the tracking number it " arrived at the delivery office in the destination country on February 8th". The money came out of my account on the day I sent the money order. So it's been over a month and I don't kniw if they cashed it yet.

Thanks for you response! How do you know that the board has received your application? should I call to find out? I heard they are terrible at answering phone calls.

california license by endorsement
Hey guys, Like many others, I've been waiting with anticipation about my California License. I sent my application for endorsement with the temp license fee. I even went to California to do the livescan fingerprint. How do you know if they've cashed your cheque ? I tried looking my name up and nothing about my license comes up.

Canadian Nurse applying for California License by Endorsement
Hey everyone. Just wondering if there are many Canadian RN's that got declined a California License. I have done everything I needed to for the application: - Passed NCLEX - Obtained Minnesota License - Completed GGFNS Visa Screen - Got a Job offer at an LA Hospital - Obtained my TN work Visa - Obtained a Social Security Number - Applied for California License by Endorsement and Temp license - Signed up for Nursys to verify my license - Sent California Board of Nursing my Transcripts/Course Outline/Clinical Breakdown - Sent in my Fingerprints via LiveScan I have heard stories of RN's getting declined a licence in California, however everyone I know that has applied for a license in California that is Canadian got approved. Has anyone had trouble with the application process? How long did it take you once you sent the application in to California BON. Thanks for reading!

California License by Endorsement
Hey everyone, Just wondering if anyone can tell me how long it took for get a California license by endorsement? I mailed my application in at the beginning of February 2016 (I also paid for the temp license). Online it says 10 to 12 weeks for license by endorsement and Temp license says 4-6 weeks. I don't know how accurate that is so I wanted to see how long it took other people. I have a job waiting for me but I don't know if I'll make there by the start date in May. Thanks!

Canadian Nurse Traveling to California
Hey my fellow Nurses, So I know that there's a lot of hear say about Canadian nurses trying to get to California, but my situation is a little different from the ones that I've seen on the discussion boards, I'm wondering if anyone could help me out that has had the same experience. Ive been working in Toronto for four years and passed the NCLEX a few months ago with a Minnesota License. All my paper work for CGFNS is in progress. I recently accepted a job offer from a California hospital and now I need to figure out how to get a social security number and TN Visa. I've been hearing a millions different things and I'm not sure which one is the correct one. The one that sounds the most correct is that once I get my CGFNS paperwork, I have to go to the border with my job offer letter and then I go to the Social Security to apply for the SSN. Once I get the SSN then I apply through Endorsement to the California Board of Nursing and pray that they issue me the license. Does anyone out there have a similar experience? Im not using a travel nurse agency because i already have a job offer through a hospital. Thanks!
