Hello Folks,
I applied to the CBRN for a license by Endorsement and qualified for the expedited service based on being a military veteran. I had previously asked/searched for information on this topic through other CBRN threads, but was unable to find anyone else who had info on how long it takes to get licensed on average through the expedited service. So, I decided to post my experience in case others in a similar position have questions in the future. Here is my timeline and I will update as I proceed through the process:
17 Jan 2017: Online License by Endorsement application submitted to CBRN. Paid the fee with a credit card online and BreEZe system shows my application as open for a permanent Cali license.
18 Jan 2017: Mailed in some hard copy documents to the CBRN as part of my application to include official sealed transcripts, License ID form, Live Scan completed form (I sent in redundant copies just in case as I uploaded the same forms to my online application).
20 Jan 2017: BreEZe system shows 2 open applications, one for a temporary license (since I applied to both) and the other for the permanent license. Under each application, it shows no outstanding requirements at this time.
That's it for now folks. I will continue to add updates as they come.
Quick update folks,
24 Jan 2017: I reached out to the California Department of Consumer Affairs that overseas all of the licensing boards in California for assistance with my application and for further info on processing times. I received a very timely and friendly email from one of their staff members. This member was able to interface with the board of nursing and get an update on my application. She forwarded to me a document highlighting that the board was still missing my fingerprint information and school transcripts even though I have already mailed everything to them. she also stated that expedited applications typically get processed in 2-6 weeks and that it takes the board roughly 3 weeks to open delivered mail...yep, 3 WEEKS!!! So, it is very clear that my documents are physically at the CBRN, but haven't been opened or uploaded to my application account. This employee was very helpful though and even offered to hand deliver my transcripts to the CBRN for me in the future if needed.
25 Jan 2017: Received an email from the staff worker from the California Department of Consumer Affairs. She informed that the CBRN had found my Live Scan documents and that it would be uploaded to my account by tomorrow.
Hey Everyone,
01 Feb 2017: I checked my BreEZe Account and my Temporary RN License number and information was posted. Temporary license is good for 6 months from today so, 08/01/2017. So from when I submitted my application online, paid the fee, and mailed in my transcripts, it took 45 days to receive my temporary license by endorsement...not bad overall! I will update this post when I receive my permanent California RN license.
08 Feb 2017: Received my permanent California RN license today on the BreEZe system. License by endorsement process took a total of 23 days to complete under the expedited service. My previous post with the 45 day timeline for the temp license was an error on my part, it should have read 17 days. Again, the Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) that manages all of the California licensing boards was a great help and resource in getting my application processed in a quick fashion, and ensuring the board had received all of my documentation. Hope this helps.

Hello! Your post has been very helpful. Do you know if the transcript form only needs to be sent with the transcripts from where I graduated with my BSN or does it need to be included with all transcripts? I completed my prerequisites from a different college. Just trying to get this done so I can start applying for jobs. Thanks for any advice!
Hello, I ws told that the "transcript form" only needs to accompany your nursing transcripts, but that you had to request and have mailed all of your transcripts covering your general education classes and pre-reqs to the board of nursing.

Hello everyone thank you for the information that you've been posting. I've realized this thread is for application by endorsement. However, I am in need of information for application by licensure and the timeline that exists for veterans for the CBRN? Anyone have an information?
Hey there,
Sorry for the delayed response. I am not 100% sure on the timeline for Licensure by examination for veterans. I do know that you rate expedited status for that category as well. If you could please update us on your experience with this separate licensing category for veterans, it would be greatly appreciated, that way others in your shoes have something to go off of.
I will keep everyone posted. Probably should start a new thread?
