Male Nurse Disgusted by Female Nurses
Interesting...talk about being punished for the sins of others? Drama much??? So because this particular nurse is now being allegedly discriminated against in his work place makes it less discriminatory or pretty much ok in your eyes because men have allegedly been doing it for "thousands of years" to women? I've seen this same drama play out in another situational context...when I was in Iraq between Sunni's and Shia's...Vindictive behavior begets further vindictive behavior, it's a never ending cycle of hateful repetition. Lets move beyond pettiness and truly look at the heart of the issue instead of promulgating stereotypes that work to only divide. It's not so much a gender issue in my mind, it's a morality issue. Some people are raised right and with respect for self and others and apply it equally across the board, others (many) are not. This transfers to every reach of society, to include the workplace, obviously.

Were those classes not part of your general education requirement for your first undergraduate degree?!? I took those three course years ago during my first run through university. A Letter from your university from the registrar's office might be helpful to get this resolved. Best of luck

California Board of Nursing License By Endorsement (Military, Spouse, Veteran)
Not sure if you are past this point already since you posted back in late January, but there is no work around for the Live Scan requirement. The only other option is to mail in your hard copy fingerprints form.

I sent them all together by certified mail to ensure I reduced the chance that the Cali BON would lose one of my items.

It doesn't take 10-12 weeks from when your batch starts to get processed based on the now processing timelines. It takes 10-12 weeks overall once you submit all of the required documentation. When your application date is the "now processing date", your license should post within a 2 week period...typically

You qualify for expedited endorsement by the Cali Board of Nursing based on being a spouse of an active duty service member. Click on my profile and follow my thread on License by Endorsement for Military/Family. You should have you Cali license in less than a month. Let me know if you have more questions about the process.

Yes, use the website and submit online. You will have better visibility of your application by applying online vs by paper/mail. The BreEze website is run by the California Department of Consumer Affairs, and as a conduit, the California Board of Nursing. Endorsement applications take approximately 10-12 weeks to process once all required materials are submitted. It is impossible to get through to the Cali BON via phone so, utilize the contact emails and phone numbers for the California Department of Consumer Affairs. They oversee all of the State Boards and can be your interface to the Cali BON since they never answer their phones.

California Board of Nursing License By Endorsement (Military, Spouse, Veteran)
Hey there, Sorry for the delayed response. I am not 100% sure on the timeline for Licensure by examination for veterans. I do know that you rate expedited status for that category as well. If you could please update us on your experience with this separate licensing category for veterans, it would be greatly appreciated, that way others in your shoes have something to go off of.

California Board of Nursing License By Endorsement (Military, Spouse, Veteran)
Hello, I ws told that the "transcript form" only needs to accompany your nursing transcripts, but that you had to request and have mailed all of your transcripts covering your general education classes and pre-reqs to the board of nursing.

Lost stethoscopes
Is this meant to be a parody? or you are for real? Never had this issue in the military with my rifle or any other equipment...maybe put a "dummy cord" on your next one. Worked for me in the service Also, maybe you shouldn't buy an expensive stethoscope in the future, just use the disposable ones in the unit or the community ones in the unit.

Timeline for endorsing RN license to CA
Ok, first off we all feel your pain. Second, take a deep breath. So, to answer some of your questions. 1. I sent in the ID form via mail even though I uploaded the form as well. 2. I would go ahead and get the live scan done when you are in SF just in case. I know it may turn out to be redundant and cost you $70, but better be safe than sorry. 3. I never had success getting anyone on the phone or an email response from the board of nursing. I emailed and called numbers for the California Department of Consumer Affairs, since they oversee all of the licensing boards in California, and they were actually very helpful. A lady emailed me back in 24 hours from their office and was able to get a hold of the board and get a status check on my application. I was able to see what items were received by the board and what items were still pending. She actually followed up with me several times over the course of 2 weeks and even offered to hand deliver my school transcripts for me since her office is right next to the Board of Nursing building in Sacramento. Here is the generic email I initially used for the DCA: [email protected] I would personalize your email and mention that you are a nurse corps scholar and have a very tight deadline to get licensed and you have tried "Many" times to email/call etc the board of nursing with no success. That is what I did and I got a quick response as I stated above. 4. Covered it in number 2 above. 5. Your university didn't require a Speech class or "oral communication" as part of your general education requirements?? Most if not all major universities require this as part of the GER. Hope this helps.

Scripps New Grad Residency March/June 2017
It depends on your budget and preferences. You can get more affordable places to the East of Highway 5 since it's going away from the water. Solana Beach and Del Mar/Carmel Valley could also be an option for you if you don't mind driving a little bit. Lots of single Marine Officers in the Carlsbad area that are always looking for roommates as well. Hit up Craigslist since it is likely the best option to finding roommates in your area.

Scripps New Grad Residency March/June 2017
Hey, that's awesome! I don't know anything about the unit actually. I'm planning on swinging by the unit before the program starts just to do a quick visual of the place and get familiar with the hospital. I don't get to San Diego until the beginning of May since I am still on the East Coast. Look forward to meeting you and working together!
