Does anyone know what type of a calculator I will need for Algebra?

I also bought a ti for a chemistry class last year, and made the mistake of buying solar. You have to be at just the right angle under extremely bright light to get the darn thing to come on, and it takes forever to come on.

I think that a lot of math programs are switching to graphing calculators. I was required to have one in my algebra course, and everything was taught as if we were using graphing calculators.
I would check out ebay. I'm sure you can get an old TI-83 or even a newer TI-84 off there for dirt cheap.
I personally have a TI-83, they aren't even made anymore, but I've had it for 8 years, and it's still running great. It was definately worth the investment for me. (I got it in high school though, so it served through high school math, college math, and college chemistry)

No graphic calculator was needed in my Algebra or Advanced Algebra class. A basic TI calculator was enough.
Good luck
