I had this question today and wasn't sure if i did it right.A prescriber ordered 0.2g of a drug. how many grains are in 4tablets? on the drug label it says 100mg as the drug strength.
0.2g means .2 grams, doesn't it? gr is the abbreviation for grains. So, 400mg = .4 grams, .2 grams would be 200 mg or 2 tablets.

1 grain= 60mg, 0.2g= 200mg, if 1tab = 100mg dose is 2tab =200mg, if you want to know how many grain in 100mg (100mg/60mg=1.6 gr or 1.7 gr) or if you want to know how many grains in the correct dose 200mg/60mg= 3.3 grain
If the question is worded correctly it doesn't matter what the prescriber ordered. The question is how many grains in 4 tabs, according to the OP. As stated by previous posters, gr= 4 tabs x (100mg/1 tab) x (1 gr/60 mg) = 400/60 gr = 6. 67 gr. If it asked for how many grains in the desired dose, it would be 200/60 gr = 3.33 gr

Thank you, you are right, I just did not finish the answer on my post, after I posted I realized that I was missing that part, but since another member appointed that, I did not want to explain it again. :)
