Cal State San Marcos ABSN Spring 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Hey all, just wondering who is applying to the Spring cohort at CSUSM. I actually applied to Fall and was accepted but had to defer to get better situated for the move. It worked out too because this is the cohort that is at the main campus, which I greatly prefer.

I live in Los Angeles now so looking forward to life in a beach town, even though we'll be studying non stop haha. If anyone has any questions about the application process let me know. I had 36 points so should be good, but am considering retaking the TEAs exam.

Yes!! That's me!! Finally got a call saying I'm in! Can't wait to meet all of you!

Hi everyone! Congrats to everyone that has been accepted so far! I applied just after the priority deadline so my advisor said I may be able to get in in the second or third round of acceptances. Just wondering if there is a deadline in which they said you have to accept or decline your seat?

Yeah they said you have to accept the offer and pay the deposit within two weeks. Good luck! Hopefully in the next round!

Got the email as well! Going to put my deposit down today!

Hi y'all! I applied for Spring 19 before the priority deadline, but I'm still waiting to hear from them. I'm guessing that the first wave is already done but I'm still really praying to get in on the second wave. I have my evaluation already but Im pretty worried because my point aren't amazing (30 points). Anyone that got in already mind sharing their points?

I'm not an acceptance to gauge from, but I also have 30 points and I haven't seen an acceptance letter, so it's definitely above the 30 line. Summer isn't the end of the world for me though, worst case!

Hi, I'm curious. Where can I find my evaluation at?

They will email it to you once your transcripts are in and they evaluate all of your grades. I just received mine and it took about 3.5 weeks after my transcripts posted.

That's interesting! I received my email saying that I've been admitted. But I didn't receive an email with my evaluation...should I be concerned?

Does anyone know from anyone else who is in the program when we start doing clinical rotations? I assume the first semester is just campus based, but since this is an accelerated program, I wasn't sure how quickly we started rotations.

Based on what they said in the info session, your first semester will be completing those classes listed on your eval sheet (ANTH 301, BIOL 323, & PHIL 345). If you have already completed those before being accepted into the program, then you have a semester less of classes to take, and you will join your cohort the following semester. Therefore I'm pretty sure that clinicals will not begin until later in the program.

Specializes in ICU.

I'm currently in the program. You'll start clinical rotations a few weeks into your second semester. Your first semester is more pre-nursing still and consists of nutrition, bioethics, and anthropology.

The only exception to being excused from the first three classes during the first semester is if you have taken them at CSUSM, except nutrition. Nutrition can be transferred in from other schools if it meets the requirements; however, anthropology and bioethics must have been taking at CSUSM in your previous undergrad, if you went to CSUSM. If not, you'll have to take them during first semester.
