Cal State San Marcos ABSN Fall 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey everyone! I applied to this upcoming cycle about a month ago but I know the deadline just passed. who else applied? I believe we should hear back sometime in late March with official evaluations etc. I signed up for the info session next month as well. good luck!

I got moved to summer so I already started the ABSN program. I currently live in Dana Point, but will be moving in with my girlfriend in Foothill Ranch in a few months. She owns her place and is not charging me rent, so commuting and hour to not pay rent versus paying to rent somewhere nearby the campus is worth it to me. Also, I have a motorcycle for commuting, so I get 50-60mpg, so gas isn't really an issue.

Awesome! How are you liking it so far? Is it true that you have 2-3 classes this semester? What is the commute like/how long does it take you? Do you take Ortega Hwy?

Yes first semester is 2-3 classes. You must take bioethics/medical ethics, and cultural of medical healers and practices. The only exception is if you've already taken these classes at CSUSM. The third class is nutrition of health and disease, which you can transfer in. It can be from any school, as long as CSUSM recognizes it as equivalent. If you haven't taken it, then you must take it during your first semester.

I take the toll road SR-214 to SR-91 to the I-15 and it takes about an hour.

Has anyone heard about any updates?

Hello Everyone,

I was just told by my advisor that the next acceptance letter will be next week. Is there anyone here with 29 points or lower got admitted to the program? I received an email today from my advisor and this is what she told me:

"We do still have a few spots for Fall. We will most likely send out offer letters next week. Your score improved by 1 which put you a little bit closer up, but there are still people ahead of you. Not to say that it is not possible for you to get in for the Fall cohort. If you are accepted you will receive an email letting you know."

I am really hoping I will get in but this email from my advisor does not sound reassuring. I've also heard that during the first wave of acceptance, there are some students that got admitted with 28 points. I've been checking my emails everyday hoping to get good news. :/

Hi there,

Do you mind sharing your points?

I was informed that there are still few spots available for the Fall Cohort. Do you mind sharing what your points?

I have a 27, not as competitive as one would hope. Would you share your points? Thank you for sharing all the info your counselor gave you!

At the moment I have a 30. I'm going to retake the teas on Monday to try and boost it by a few points.

I have 29 points but I've heard there are students who got admitted lower than 29 for this Fall Cohort.

Your score is competitive enough. I am also scheduled to take my TEAS exam the next Saturday but I may have to reschedule it sooner. Good luck to you! Hope you get higher score.

There are priority deadlines for admissions. The priority deadline for the Fall 2018 semester was March 16, 2018. The students who applied prior to that deadline will have received priority over those who applied afterwards. That is why someone with only 28 points may have been accepted, whereas someone with higher points was not - it is likely the person with 28 points applied before the priority deadline and the person with higher points applied after the priority deadline.

Hello,

Question! I am done with my nursing core requirements and all. Would you guys recommend just taking more classes to boost up my "Last 60 Units GPA"? And if so, what classes should I take?

Thanks!
