I applied for CSUN's accelrated fall 2008 program and simply wanted to let others know I'm online to bounce ideas around.
It would be great to hear your stories going through the interviewing and acceptance process. Who knows, hopefully we'll even be classmates together this fall...
Hi Levoila, Congrats!
I haven't heard anything from CSUN. I am guessing I didn't get in due to a late acceptance letter from CSUN Admissions Dept....they took too long to admit me..over 2 months. I have a 3.8GPA, clinical research experience at UCSF and have a degree in Int'l studies and speak Spanish. Can you tell me if there was something about your application that made for a great candidate? Just curious to know if I could do something better or be on the ball next year.
Thanks! Thay are lucky to have you.

Thank you, PeopleHelper. About the application, I had to call admissions and let them know that my program needed an official acceptance from the university. I think I spoke to a transfer credit evaluator in admissions and she admitted me over the phone. I got the idea to try that by reading a previous year's thread on this website.
I don't think there was anything special about my application. I completed the Title V requirement that I was missing this Winter. I haven't completed the upper division writing exam. The application said that those who had completed this would have some sort of preference. I have a 3.87 prerequisite GPA, experience working/studying/traveling abroad, I speak Spanish and French fluently, I am passionate about nursing, and I think the interview went well. I don't have clinical research experience, but I have been volunteering for several months in a hospital and have gotten to observe the nurses interact with patients quite a bit. I also decided to take a CNA class to get more hands-on experience. I feel very lucky to have been accepted. I've already been rejected by UCLA and probably will be soon be CSUF.
I know how competitive these programs are so I just did my best to let my enthusiasm/ focus/ personality shine through in the interview.
Good luck, everyone!!
Oh, I missed the date of orientation. I was too emotional as well. They said they will send us the information packet in 2-3 days. So I'm pretty sure most of the questions will be answered there. I was gonna go to New Mexico State if CSUN wouldn't accept me. I'm glad I get to stay here in CA. You will be my classmate!
Congratulations to all those who got accepted at CSUN for the ABSN summer/fall 2009. I'll be one of your classmates... Do you know what decided the selection team to chose some candidates for summer and others for fall? Does any of you got accepted at Mount St Mary's College as well. If yes, what would be your final choice?

Salut, labelledame ! I don't know how they decided which term to admit people to. I just remember from the info session that someone mentioned that if we wanted to improve our chances of being accepted, that we should select both Summer and Fall on the application. Which term were you admitted to? I applied to MSMC for the Fall semester. I would rather go to CSUN though, because of how much I would save in tuition. I have heard really good things about MSMC's program, but I want to minimize the amount of debt I accumulate.
Are you still undecided between MSMC and CSUN?
Bonjour levoila, I see that you speak french. It's my first language by the way!!! I think that it might be better to stick with CSUN because of the tuition. The difference with MSMC is huge, even though (in my opinion) MSMC has a better program (more organized, a better reputation...) I have all my books for the first semester (starting in May) and all my uniforms already. But still, I'm thinking about quitting MSMC in order to save $40,000. For me that a huge amount of money. The only problem is that I'll be graduating 6 months latter than my classmates from MSMC because I was accepted for the fall semester at CSUN. Do you guys think that being a nurse 6 months earlier is worth a $40,000 debt? I'll really appreciate your comments...:typing Thanks.
