I applied for CSUN's accelrated fall 2008 program and simply wanted to let others know I'm online to bounce ideas around.
It would be great to hear your stories going through the interviewing and acceptance process. Who knows, hopefully we'll even be classmates together this fall...
Merci levoila,
I appreciate your opinion and I totally agree with you that it's wise to avoid any unnecessary debt. Concerning the ABSN or the entry level MSN, I think that it's the same in length but if I were you, I will go for the ABSN first and then, work for couple of years just to know exactly what field of nursing I am attracted to before going on with the NP. It really depends on you because if you are interested to the administration you can go straight for the MSN program since you wont have to deal a lot with direct patient care. Bon courage a toi aussi...
Merci, labelledame. Il faut que je réfléchisse bien avant décider
Why don't you try asking the department if there are any people that were accepted into the summer cohort that would rather be in the fall cohort. They might be able to switch you, and then you'd be graduating around the same time as you would if you went to MSMC.
Hi guys do you think that CSUN is done with the interview process, I am just afraid I wont get an interview because the month is almost over plus on there website they said by the first week of April everyone will be notified. If I dont get an interview that means I have been rejected right? It is a good thing that I applied to out of state schools. I thought that since I graduated from CSUN two years ago with a degree in Biology, completed all the prereq I would have an edge guess not, let me know:bluecry1:
Why don't you call and ask? Although, during my interview I got the impression that they were planning on conducting interviews through the end of last week and that after that, they would be making their decisions.
I have the impression that people for both the Summer and Fall have already been notified. There might still be hope, though if some people don't accept the offer of admission.
If I were you, I would call in order to find out. I've sent a few emails about things and didn't get a response, so calling seems to be the better option.
About having an edge--I graduated from UCLA and was rejected for the MECN program--I feel your pain--no edge for me either!
Hey guys I got my denial letter from CSUN for the Accelerated BSN program. In a way this may be a blessing in disguise. I have always wanted to go to school in another state but never had the opportunity to do so. I have been accepted to Kent State University, Capital University, USF, Simmons college, Temple University and still waiting to hear from Wayne State University. Good luck to everyone in our hopes of becoming outstanding nurses one day.
Levoila, does CSUN accept everyone they interview. I thought that if some people do decide to give up there spots then CSUN would take people they interviewed or take people they did not interview. All schools admission process is so different. I wonder if CSUN has a waiting list?
I have no idea

Bonjour, labelledame !
Well, it depends. MSMC has those forgiveable loans for half of the tuition, so if you planned on applying for them, the difference is significantly less. I did get a good feel for the MSMC program from the info session and loved the campus, but I absolutely want to avoid any unnecessary additional debt.
I'm still also waiting for decisions from CSULA& CSULB and debating whether or not it would be better to get the BSN first, or go for a program like CSULB's that would also give me a masters or CSULA's that would give me a masters with the NP specialization. I know that I will reach my goals either way, I'm just trying to figure out which would be best.
As far as graduating earlier or later, I think that's just a personal decision. Only you can know if it will really bother you or not.
Bon courage !
