I don't go to CSULB, but am in the CSU system.

you will not need to take your TEAS until you are ready to apply to the nursing program. They do have financial aid. You will need to fill out a FAFSA when you are applying to the school. That will give you your family's estimated contribution to your education and grants/scholarships will be awarded based on that. There are also other scholarships that are not affiliated with a specific university that you can apply for.

And as far as basic vs trimester...just be glad if you get in. It is no small feat getting accepted into a nursing program.

i'm in CSULB's nursing program for spring '07. semester and trimester are nearly the same, it's just a matter of when the courses are completed. in semesters, you will be doing your nursing courses in fall and spring only and you will be finished within three years. in trimesters, you will be doing your nursing courses in fall, spring, and summer; you will be finished within two years. the lottery is used to select students to go either into the semester or trimester programs. every student that is accepted into CSULB's nursing program worked hard; the lottery is completely fair because it is random and does not favor one student over another. it is competitive to be accepted into the program, so it really doesn't matter if one is in semester or trimester- just be happy that you got in! your chances change each semester, it depends on who applies to the program. CSULB compares and selects the top 90 students and 15 alternates out of however many that apply.

all students have to take the TEAS test to apply for CSULB's nursing program. CSULB also offers financial aid if you qualify, as with all other colleges.

Okay I applied to csulb school and got in but I didn't get into the nursing program. I never applied to the nursing program because I didn't finish my prereqs on time..so now I'm a prenursing major admitted into the fall 07. my question is if I should reject or accept my application because I'm not even 100% sure if I'm going to csulb... for the fall 07 term... (I plan to apply to some private csu and community college schools too) my question is once I've accepted and payed the 150 dollars, does that mean I never have to apply to the CSULB the school ever again and I have a spot for the whole year until Spring 08??

Also my community college doesn't provide the chem2b class that is required.. I'm transferring without having completed it. can I take this class at csulb?

I don't even have a plan for housing because I didn't turn in my app on time. what should I do to find housing? I mean, whats the best way to find housing?

There are all these tests too.. TEAS? how do I plan for those? is it hard? what should I expect? books to read to plan for it?

What are your gpas when you got into the program? it's done by lottery? so that means GPA doesnt even matter?! how is the lottery done?

I don't get it. what does a prenursing major do exactly? when I get to the school I won't have any prereqs left to take for the csulb nursing program..besides that chem2b class probably. what do I do at csulb in the meantime? should I just stay at a community college, and apply in august for the Spring 08 instead of going to csulb?

There is even this other option where I can take up like another BSN in something else while waiting to get into the nursing program.. but I don't know how to go about that.. because I was thinking if I could get a BSN in business administration? how would I go about doing that?

Hope that wasnt too confusing. please help.

I don't know anything about this program but I am curious as to how it is so selective if its based on Lottery? how does it take the top 90 if its based on a lottery? Are the qualifications for the lottery much stricter then other nursing programs?

to get into csulb's nursing program, they select the top 90 students NOT based on lottery. the top 90 students are selected based on: science prereqs GPA, general prereqs GPA, TEAS overall test score, and TEAS math score.

the nursing department uses the lottery system ONLY for the 90 students who were already selected to be into the nursing program. the lottery system is used to determine which (of the 90) students go into the semester (3 year) or trimester (2 year) program.

oh I see ok so once you get accepted they use the lottery to determine the route you take.

hey the odds are better there then my school my school only takes on GPA and there are only 12 spots in the fall and 24 in the spring.

Long Beach Memorial Medical Center has an agreement with CSULB that they will pay for students tuition and books in return for a 2 year committment to work at the hospital after graduation. This is optional of course, but it really is a good deal.

ok i have a problem. i havent taken the chem2b class. is there a way i can get into the nursing program without having taken this prereq? i know if i take it i will fail which will ruin my gpa and postpone my time in getting into nursing school... please help!
