I have applied for a nursing program this september, and I was invited to the interview for next Monday. However, it is said if you have over 90 units, you may not able to change my major. Right now, I am in Design major, and hoping to change to Nursing major. I wonder what kind of change I have to change my major. I have earned 105 units already.
Before I received the email about the interview, I have asked about my senior status in school, and Monalisa said that I cannot change major any more since I have earned more than 90 units. I have to graduate first and then resubmit an application to school.
I thought that I would get a denial letter. I was surprised that I was invited to the interview.
I wonder what is the meaning of the interview for me. Monalisa told me that I can not change my major any more.
I also wonder if I was accepted by a nursing department, but the college of dean may deny my changing major, what I have to do next. Do I have to start over again? First I have to graduate school with current major, and then submit a general application to CSULB and then submit a nursing application to Nursing department, then have an interview gain??? Or if I am accepted by nursing department after interview, but denied by CSULB, will I be automatically accepted after resubmit a general application to CSULB?
I am also worry about the interview. I am not native speaker. Will it be hard for me? My interview will be next Monday. I hope it is not so hard.
I would think you can apply your in the spring for fall 2012. That's what I did. I am graduating this semester (pending that I pass all my classes, which won't be an issue haha) so I was told that I can apply for my 2nd bachelors in nursing for spring. As long as you are for sure graduating next semester, you can apply for the program the following semester.
I just applied back to CSULB for post-baccalaureate study under the additional bachelors degree in nursing, as well as applied to the nursing department.

If it is true, that is a greate news. So, you are saying that you applied for CSULB and nursing department
as second bachelor before graduating. I have 5 more classes to complete. I have already applied for graduation for spring 2012. You took the interview again, right?
Is there anyone who you recommend me to talk to? I want to talk to a counselor about this.
I almost gave up CSUBL though. I feel like that I still have a change to get in the program.
By the way, my score was 9.5 out of 10 pts. The interview was okay for me.
I'd maybe take it up with a counselor. When I was fighting the school's decision before realizing there was nothing I could so, I was being told to just apply back to the school for a 2nd bachelors. I only had 11 more units to graduate, so I grudgingly accepted the truth, and listened to what they said.
I actually did not have to interview again. I am pretty sure the interview it just to make sure that you communicate well with others, and that once you're offered an interview you're in a good position. With a 9.5, I am sure you have a GREAT chance at getting in.
Don't give up. I thought I was going to give up on nursing altogether, but I am starting next semester, and I couldn't be happier. The people in enrollment services are pretty helpful too. I asked them multiple times if I could apply for my second bachelors for spring even though I have technically "graduated" yet.

Hi jsoriano,
I am so happy that you found me. When I talked to a general counselor, she said that I have to graduate first and apply for second bachelor. I thought it would take another year to apply.
Last night I talked to my academic advisor. He said that I have to apply for second bachelor before I graduate or it will be too late.
I am not sure if my situation is same as yours. According to your writing, you were accepted by a nursing department, but an admition office didn't allow you to change a major, right?
In my case, I got a denial letter from nursing department because of timely graduation policy; they can not consider me at this time. I am not sure if I passed an interview. It said that I can re-apply.
Anyway, I will call ---- tomorrow, and will talk to --- (a counselor for nursing). I will also talk to a general counselor. I will also ask people in enrollment services.
I got a denial letter 3 weeks ago. I almost gave up CSULB nursing school. Now, I feel like that I may have a little hope.
Thanks again jsoriano, I will let you know after meeting all counselors.
just a reminder per the terms of service:
please do not give out personal information about others. do not name names where anyone could identify the person in any facility including your nursing programs.
thank you.

Glad I could help Dr. Choco!!
Yes, I was accepted by the nursing department for this current semester, but the school denied to change my major because of the timely graduation policy. Somehow I kind of just slipped through the cracks and they should've caught me before I got to the point of going to orientation and stuff. I am so happy I was accepted for this spring. Definitely more motivation to graduate . I'm glad that the department is warning people now so no one has to go through what I, and 8 others, had to go through.
Don't lose hope!! You totally have a great chance at making it in for your 2nd bachelors, so don't forget to apply!
Hi, jsoriano. How are you? You are my saver. As you advised me, I have applied to BSN as a second bachelor's for Fall 2012. I am graduating next month. I haven't heard the result from Nursing Department yet though. I just wondered if my final grade of this semester would affect their decision.
When I called admition office last semster, she said that cumulative GPA have to be more than 3.7. If my GPA is lower than that, they will not consider. Right now, my GPA is about 3.7, but I am having hard time this semsester because I am taking 5 classes. Most likely my GPA will go down, will be lower than 3.7. Is that possible if I may be denied from admition office even though the nursing department accept me.
According to your last comment, you got accepted before your graduation, right? So, did you get acceptance letter from the admission office after graduation as well?

Hi jsoriano, again.
How I understood was that I have to graduate first. (It will be spring 2012.) I can apply to CSULB admition office during summer. After admition office accept me, I can apply to a nursing department for spring 2013. It is like another year for me to get in.
How could I apply for fall 2012? Can you tell me please? I thought we have to submit an application one semester before.
What kind of process did you do?
