CA is testing my patience...

Published

So I am usually a very patient person, but waiting for NCLEX results in CA has just added a degree of difficulty. The BRN website says it is updated M-F, but when I log in this morning, it says "last updated; JUL-14-2008." Someone needs to notify the BRN that it is now JUL-16-2008 and they seemed to have skipped a day. They are killing me! all I ask is that they humor me and just change the date so at least I think someone has done something in the last 2 days!! Is that too much to ask?! It's always something...

Sometimes the date might not change but they do update. I tested July 1st and got my results on the Cali BRN on July 5th. The website said it had updated July 3rd but I checked everyday! just be patient ...remember it is different for everyone!

There is no way to actually know ahead of time if a file is complete, there could be an issue with fingerprints or anything else. And remember that CA will permit a new grad to test before they have received the final transcripts from your school provided that you name was on a roster submitted by the school.

They are one of the only states that permits this, so they could also require that one has everything completely done before being granted permission to sit for the exam.

And there are only about 1/2 of the states that actually participate in early results, it is far from being all of them, or close to it. You just hear so much about CA as the state is so large.

Average wait time is ten days, we have seen some see their license posted in two to three days, but this is not the norm.

Best of luck to you.

Even though CA will allow you to test prior to receiving all required info, will they issue the Interim Permit without the file being complete? It seems that if an IP has been issued, that the only thing remaining would be the NCLEX. Please correct me if I am wrong.

...and the BRN did update their website today, they were just a little slower than normal. I'm sure they know that I am waiting!! :lol2:

Actually as long as your name is on the roster that is sent in by the school permits you to sit for the NCLEX exam, and that is all that is needed for the ATT, and that is the same requirement in most instances for the IP. It only means that one has met the requirements for testing but has not written the test as of yet.

CA does things differently than routinely done in other states.

I second what ClaraSicRN stated. I tested on the 8th and my results were posted on the 12th, but it stated it was issued on the 11th ( I checked on the 11th and my name was not up).

Anyway, I know they say they are open M-F, but my results were posted on a saturday (the 12th). I checked the night before (11th) and my name was not up. So, I don't know how it works but check on the weekends too, you never know! Good luck guys, hope you all have positive results.

For those wondering whether their file is complete, one of the things I did was call my SON to confirm my transcripts were sent to the BON before I tested.

Thank you for the advice, regarding to check with my SON about my file is complete or not. My understanding was that if the BRN issued my IP it meant that they already had my file complete and they only needed my NCLEX results to issue my RN license; bbased on Suzanne comments it seems like in BRN CA doesn't work in that way.

Thanks again for your input it gives me son clues about when can I expect my results.

They issue the ATT without having a completed file in terms of transcripts many times, and in order to get the IP, it is the same requirements for that as for getting the ATT.

The IP is not a license, it is only a permit. Permanent licenses are never issued until the file is complete and that is why it takes longer for some to see their name on the website. They are never posted until the permanent license number is assigned.

Remember that you received the IP at the same time that you received the ATT, and your friends did as well.

Best of luck to you.
