CA BRN New Requirements For NCLEX RN international students

World Registration

Published

I had already registered online in Pearson Vue but I think I'm not yet eligible to take the test. Is there an expiration date for my registration at PV?

I received a letter from CA BON requesting for new requirements such as:

  1. SS number
  2. Local license in the Philippines
  3. Copy of ur clinical rotation schedule for your cases: Assisted/Actual deliveries, cord dressing, and major/minor surgeries
  4. A complete school curriculum hundred pages or more sent directly from ur nursing school to the board. (the board doesn't accept the condensed version of the curriculum
  5. A one-page curriculum outline and academic calendar.

Fortunately, I had the first 2 requirements but I am worried that the last 3 will take time to be accomplished.

I am wondering if it's just me who have this requirement. Most of NCLEX passers I know weren't required on those listed above. It's really hard to focus on review while your thinking of this :uhoh3:

Our Bahelors Degree(BSN)which is a 4years course is accepted by CABON.Because when I met with my analyst she explains everything to me because my aunt who is a Resident Care MAnagement Director also asked what will happened with my BSN,CABON specify that the only issue is our cases to be concurrent so we can sit for the exam and once its met we are set to go.BSN is our degree. She gave an example like this LVN-RN-BSN are all in a different level of nursing, she suggested since I dont want to work in another state she said I can have LVN-RN bridge program and once completed can sit for the RN exam..then continue my way up for example if I want to be a NP because I have my Bahelors Degree.

Recently graduated BSN March 2012, Our Lady of Fatima University-LAGRO,QC. The BON is asking for my clinical cases stuff. Ima read up on this forum post i believe i fall into this category.

Can u give me a breakdown what CA-BON, specifically the cases that i acquired in clinical duty, what do they want? like a breakdown in order of cases. In what year I should have gotten the OB cases, DR cases..etc. thank you

Btw, I was in Fatima's New Curriculum, had NCM100-107 so yeah. :p

@che_guapa how about ur RLE checklist, maybe u have still those..actually, that was i did, since id lost mine too, so, i photocopied my clinical cases from there, and have it signed as a certified true copy by our dean,.unfortunately, i was still denied by the CABoN..

are they suggesting for u take up masteral in OB or in MS?, Im still waiting for my school to send my docs on CABON. I only have my RLE summary.. and MY DR and OR cases, i think I will just go to PRC to request for those things... Getting a job here in cali is so difficult, adding to insult to injury is these requirements..

I think everyone here(IEN grad.from d Phil.) is with the new curriculum because if not the school will not be allowed to offer nursing course.CABON is asking that theory and clinical should be taken concurrently same time when d lecture was offered. It was all the clinical cases(or,dr,cord dressing, assist, handle)that we did for us to graduate.and d one we gave at PRC so we can take d board.Maybe it doesnt matter what NCM as long as it match with your theory and clinical cases, because some of the posts here was just all about the concurrency thing.but not so sure.:specs:

@ che guapa...PRC will just keep our records for atleast a year,I just read it in some post here and said instead of contacting them our school should be the one to provide it for us.tell ur school kababayan its their obligation to provide all the docs.that CABON is asking.

Is that just the holdup for everyone is the cases that's BONs asking? :/

You're right, all applicants must meet the minimum requirements of the California to qualify to sit for the NCLEX-RN exam.Theories and clinicals must taken concurrently,so it doesnt matter if you guys are in new curriculum. They based the concurrency on our clinical cases.

So if you finished your cases within the semester when OB and MS was offered, then you might not have a problem.

Well I read like the 2 first page previous threads. Long stories. Sad to say I hope I can still take the nclex considering I too have a slight wrinkle with my cases not being concurrent. Lots of ideas ran thru my mind, like what do I do? Where will I work? I'll have to further investigate to figure out this rough obstacle. God bless to all.

Btw does the cases apply to Filipino local citizenships or U.S citizens? Or all of the above? Was this law recently changed when? Thank u in advance for the replies.
