CA BRN Grad to NCLEX timeline/prep

Published

Hello all,

i know now many of us have just graduating and are applying for jobs and anxiously awaiting the BRN to send us our ATT so we can take the mystical NCLEX. I thought it would be nice to have a post our timelines, if we have accepted our first job yet and where you will be working as a new grad, how you are studying for the NCLEX, when you submitted your application to the BRN, when your school sent in your transcripts, when you received your ATT, and when you finally took the NCLEX how many questions you had and any advice you'd give to those who haven't taken it yet:)

I'll start off the conversation:

BRN application sent in: December 5th

RN grad date: 12/16/16

First RN job:Surgical ICU (very anxious)

transcripts roster sent in: 1/11/16

ATT: not received yet (BRN updates processing dates every Monday but the dates haven't changed in a few weeks probably due to the holidays)

Studying for NCLEX: 4 day in class Kaplan review (wasn't a huge fan, but instructor was nice and it did help a little), Uworld (awesome app, great rationales that help you review content as you test), NCLEX mastery (rationales are decent), misc NCLEX books to answer as many questions as I can (Saunders, Kaplan content review, ATI content review) Saunders is awesome because it has online question banks with a few thousand questions.

Good to know, thank you! Just curious, was there a good amount of test dates available? Theres a testing center like 2 miles from my house. Would love to take it there, the next locations are 16-30 miles away

The first time I registered, there were no dates sooner than 2/14. But then I kept checking, and as people cancel or change their appts, more open up, so I was able to reschedule the next day to the 9th. Then, a few days later, I was able to reschedule to 1/27 (today), so just keep checking. There is no fee to reschedule as long as you provide 24 hours notice.

My date just changed to today so I hope that means my ATT is coming!!! Fingers crossed!

Just got word that our transcripts were sent in on 1/23 (monday). almost a whole month after we graduated. Hopefully this means the ATT is on the way!

Beccaz07, have you gotten you ATT yet? I believe my school's transcripts were sent out on 1/20 or 1/23 but I'm still waiting on both my interim permit and ATT.

I graduate Dec 20, 2016 and applied 11/30 but our program have not sent our transcripts yet. the only reason I can think of is on of the student haven't applied yet. they told us that they have to send all transcripts as a group so I am hoping that sometime soon this month.
