I have consecutively applied to the Butte College Nursing Program for the last 4 semesters (2 years!). When I first applied, I was aware of the waiting list but I was told that the 4th time applying would guarantee a spot in the program due to the increase in chances every semester. I just emailed the program directer who was very nice and helpful, but informed me that most students are getting in their 6th or 7th time applying! I would love to hear from others who are working toward the Butte RN program, how many times they have applied and so on...would love to hear some feedback on other's experiences!
Took 6 applications but I finally got accepted! Hang in there to those still applying, it will happen! I'm still in shock since I was so used to getting denied.
Im set to start the nursing program this next semester and wanted to check and see if the schedule they sent us in our packet sounded right, they have us basically going monday 8-12 then tuesday through thursday 8-3or4 with fridays off. then later on wednesday and thursday at hospital 1-9, the only reason i ask is previously i was in the lvn program and we got a schedule in our packets that was similar but TOTALLY WRONG and no one was aware of the issue until orientation which was really difficult.... i appreciate any input you have :-)
Just applied (first time) to Butte, and while I'm aware the odds are not in my favor, I didn't realize how long it might actually take to get in...to any school for that matter. I'm elderly compared to the majority applying (I'm 36), so this being my second year of applying to any school, I'm starting to get even more discouraged that I won't be getting in to any school for years and won't actually begin my new career until I'm past 40! Anyway, just trying to keep positive, but each failure seems to hit a little harder. Just felt like venting. Thanks :-)

Don't be discouraged, it will happen, just keep bothering Michelle. And there was a lady in the cohort after mine that was late 50 or early 60s.
