I recently applied at a hospital here in california and got a job offer, however after a couple days from the offer I was told references did not check through so they took the offer back. This hospital used a system in which a link was sent to references. However since me and a reference had the same ip address, they assumed it was a fake address. This threw a red flag im guessing for them. However my other references were great and checked through. Im just wondering if ill ever be able to apply back to that hospital in the future or if its just hopeless to even try again since HR assumed a red flag with one reference. Ugh, this sucks.

Without knowing for sure that's what happened I wouldn't have any idea how to advise you. Did you speak with someone and get this explanation? If you have a reference with the same IP address, doesn't that mean the reference is using the same computer you are? Not sure how this would happen if you're not related, and most places wouldn't take a reference from a relative anyway.

Did they tell you this? If not, how do you know you and the reference have the same IP address? Does the reference live with you, by chance?
Reference does not live with me but was an old coworker whom I am still friends with, however they were over and used my laptop to fill out the reference link. HR told me the ip addresses were the same and they couldnt move forward with the offer. I didn’t realize it would be an issue had I known I would have never had reference use my laptop. I’m just wondering if I could ever apply to other positions again in the future at the same hospital ?

...best answered by HR at that company. Good luck!
