Burlington County College BCC 2012 Spring Nursing Program

U.S.A. New Jersey

Published

Greetings,

I am currently enrolled at BCC full time and will be finishing the last of my prerequisites this summer. I have applied to the nursing program for Spring 2012 and I know not to expect information for quite some time. I have a 3.92 GPA and received a score of 71.3% on the TEAS V test.

Once I am accepted into the nursing program the only classes I have left to take are the following: BIO 155/156 (Micro, Lab), NUR 119, NUR 120, NUR 214, NUR 215, NUR 216. I have already taken the medication administration class successfully also.

I am looking for advice/answers from fellow students going through the process. I have a few questions/concerns.

  • Will completion of my final prerequisite class this Summer be finished in time for the acceptance process?
  • What is the schedule like? I know to be available from 4P-12A M-F for classes, but that seems vague.
  • Can you double up on any nursing classes during a semester? (Registration-wise)
  • Are any nursing classes available during intersessions or summer semesters?
  • Any other advice/comments :)

Thank you very much! :nurse:

can it be next week yet?!?!

Hey guys!

Good luck to everyone in this thread waiting to hear from BCC! I'm currently taking A & P 1 from Gloucester County College and have taken the Hesi A2 twice. I'm from Burlington County and am also thinking of applying to BCC's nursing program as well. Can any of you give me information about the TEAS V? Like what a passing score is and, if any of you have taken the Hesi, how it compares to that test? I have my bachelors degree already and the only two pre-req i'd have to take would be micro because next semester I will be taking A & P 2 and nutrition. I'd greatly appreciate it if anyone would give me some information or general advice!

Thank you!!

haven't taken the hesi, took the teas, not too bad kinda like an sat...take all of your prereqs asap if you can squeeze em into fall 2 and spring intercession, and beginning of spring you might be able to make the fall...it all depends how many people are done with everything going into spring when they review applications. the passing score on the teas is 60 percent. im in a and p2 and micro right now i took nutrition during the summer. Anxious for the spring letters to come out...

@ ScarletKnight do you drive to Gloucester County College everyday? I was looking into their nursing program. Do you know anything about it?

To answer your questions I took the Teas and it was pretty easy aside from the fact that I was forced to recall info from HS. If you have taken the Hesi you will be fine, I'm sure the structure of the test cannot be to different. When taking Micro lab I would stay AWAY from Temple! (based on personal experience) Ami Orstigo was AWESOME for lecture!!!! If you can get Prof. Lesse for A&P 2 he ROCKS!!!! If you apply your self and show effort you are good to go with him.

@ggriffith639 Yes, I drive there twice a week since i'm only taking two classes. I really like it there and have talked to administration about their program and it seems great. I know its very competitive and you have to get no less than an 80 percent on all sections and a minimum of a 70 percent on chemistry and bio. Theres also a critical thinking section which you are given various scenarios about patients and you have to pick the prioritization of car..you have to get a minimum of a 700 to be considered. I'm appying to both programs and think its great that for BCC you only have to pass the Teas, i've been studying my butt off for awhile for the Hesi and its paying off i brought my score up a good amount this time. Any idea of how picking up the intent-to-enroll form goes? Do they usually all go on the first day or do I have time to get it a day or 2 after? I'm in A and p 1 now and i love my professor so i'll probably stay at Gloucester for spring because he teaches a and p 2 also. Thanks for the advice!

They always have intent to enroll forms available, you can pick them up starting oct 1st but you cant postmark it unitl november 1st.

ok great, so they basically base accepting you on : 1. passing the teas v 2. having most if not all of your pre-reqs done? is there any other deciding factor?

that and you have to have at least a 2.5 gpa on all your courses.

So ummmm just thought I would throw it out there again....the letters came last year on the 30th of SEP, and it is now 45 minutes away from being OCT 3rd, I know they have until the 15th to be mailed out...but i am so anxious......

Good luck everyone! I'm in the BCC program now, just started this semester and while it is hard, I love it very much! I was so anxious waiting for my letter too so I know how you all feel. Take a deep breath and try to relax...and then run to your mailbox everyday the minute you see the mail come! lol! I did!!! Good luck guys!! :nurse:
