Bump On Penis

Published

First of all I would like to introduce myself. Im a 27 year old Nursing student and I love these boards.. now onto my question.

One of my best male friends has a bump on his member for the past year or so. Its at the base and gets worse when he masturbates and actually grows in size. He is freaked out, but wont go to a doctor. I told him that doctors handle this kind of stuff all the time and Im sure its nothing to be embarassed about.

He has no itching, discharge, rashes etc.. just a boil looking thing on his member. Any idea as to what it could be? And, how to I get him to go see a doctor about it? He has not had sex with anybody for the past year and has spoken with his ex and she has tested clean for everything.

any advice would be helpful. thanks!

Tell him to get to a doctor and get it checked out. Tell him NOT to be embarassed; it is critical. IT COULD BE AN STD; or it could be entirely something else. I can't say. I know as a nurse I could NOT diagnose his problem but it sounds like something requiring medical diagnosis and/or intervention. Good luck.

Well, obviously he should go to a doctor and get it looked at. My guess though is that it is maybe a cyst (I know guys with the same problem)? Is it actually on his member or his testicles? Testicular cysts are actually fairly common, and he can go to the doctor and get it drained.

she said it's on the member, Nikki. I don't wish to even TRY to say what is up with this one. GET TO A DOCTOR; this is a nursing board, not a medicine one. I again wish you luck.

Advice:

1. this is not a good first question to ask on this board.

2. If your friend won't go to a doc and hasn't for a year over this "problem," why are you concerned?

Because he called me freaked out yesterday. And, I think its a good first question, just asking how to help a friend out is all. And how to talk him into going to a doctor.

I don't understand why guys are so weird about going to the doctor. Most women, if they had a big ole bump on their cha cha, would be running off to the doctor. I totally agree with you Deb, I was just making an educated guess. Jessy, tell your friend to stop being such a wuss and go to the doctor!

hahaha.. :) Im trying.. But guys are stubborn.

well, pardon me, it just seemed a bit strange that a guy would have something wrong with his member for over a year and is just now freaking out over it...

and of course he needs to be seen by a doc. i said it was a poor choice for a first question because of what the other posters said--hard to dx a problem here because we're not docs, for one thing....

I agree which is why I said SEE a DOCTOR!!!!!

I dont think that my concern for a friend is a poor choice for a question. I think you took things way out of context. I just came here asking for advice on how to get a friend to go to the doctor. That is all.

People enjoy being in denial. If they dont go to a doctor, they dont have anything wrong with them.
