Well to say that I have put over 100 applications is an understatement. It's the catch 22 that many new grads face. "Can't hire you unless you have 1 year of experience" I have tried several hospitals(gn positions and rn positions), home health agencies, dr's offices, dialysis centers and still no call backs. I'm I missing any other places? I was hired as a school nurse but then the position was given to someone else because I had an RN with a BS degree not a BSN . Just needed to vent a little to fellow nurses. Any advice other than give it time or pray? Thanks in advance

You are doing the right things, just have to keep trying! I would expand your search to nursing homes. TCUs offer good experience for new grads. It's tough but I was prepared to do this too.
Good luck!
What are TCUs???

Ambulance Services offer ALS transport and some transports require an RN to ride along. Very easy shifts and u hardly do anything but monitor and sign your RN after your name. American Medical Response, my old employer uses them. Job fairs? City or county prison systems hire RNs, sheriffs dept often does too. If u were here in LA, the movie studios hire RNs. INsurance companies have nursing hotlines that patients can call in and get advice, not sure how you would go about applying but its a job that does not require skill per se, only a body of knowlege.
Also, while you're waiting...get started on that BSN!! Yes, i know, its ridiculous that so many places want BSN nurses. There is no difference in your nursing skill, its mainly so they can "brag" that they have "higher educated" nurses than, say Hospital X.
Nursing home Transitional Care Units.

I was in the same position as you. I graduated in May with my BSN and have applied for 50 positions. The hospitals in this area are trying to place their internal applicants before moving to the external applicants, but they don't have a lot of positions to begin with. It became extremely frustrating so I applied at a nursing home and a hospice facility. They both called me back the day after I submitted my applications and set up interviews. They both offered me jobs on the spot and I ended up going with the hospice center.
I would suggest applying at nursing homes just to get a some sort of RN experience to put on your resume and the older adult population is always growing and they always need people. Good luck!!!! You'll get something just be patient. :)

You can try Jails, If I couldn't get in at the hospital I would have loved to work at our local jail. I shadowed there and did my focused clinical there. Ours was ran really well, the nurses have never been harmed at least in the years since this one lady took over which I think was the past 8 or something. It's great pay and great benis and they loved hiring new grads. I ended up getting a hospital job right away but had I not I really would have pushed for this jail.
Granted I do live in Yuppyville so not sure how well run other jails are but I personally loved it for the same reason I loved when I was in the ED.

That sounds great, but there's no chance for those with no experience to get those positions nowadays.
Thank you all for the info. Finally got a call back from a dialysis clinic I start training in 2wks:w00t:
