What would be a textbook response against a bully nurse?

I have search the forums using the keyword "bully" and most of the threads have been talkfests.

This is not a homework question. It's a sample interview question. Bullies, kidding!

LOL!-- well a sense of humor certainly helps, too!! In my experience (I tend to be a go-with-the-flow type) on the job, I feel it is part of the reason a couple of people decided to see how far they could push me around. It didn't stop until I confronted them face to face, in one case it was a supervisor with a serious case of "big-fish-small-pond". Yep, I went over her head because I had to. Then the person I went to asked me how I thought she could deal with the person, because she was the "pet" of the Medical Director who had no clue how dysfunctional this person really was! Politics! :grn:

In that case then your interview answer is to always punch the "Bully" in the nose.

If an interviewer asks you that questions, I would answer it with a question posed to her/him:

"Do you have a problem with bullying or lateral violence in your hospital?"

.....And then punch the bully in the nose! :nurse:
