BSN with recent dui denied to sit for the nclex California

Published

Hi,

I had just received my denial letter from California and am wondering if it is worth it to go through the appeal process and attempt to land a job in California on probation or just switch and apply to take my nclex in Colorado?

I had made the poor decision to drink and drive and am now paying for it. I understand the seriousness and would appreciate it if the negative comments were left to a minimum! This is a very devastating time and I hope some of you can shed some light on my decision.

Thank you!

Wow, thank you all for your comments and responses!

I have sought out a lawyer that deals specifically with the California board of nursing to help eliminate some of the probationary terms I am looking at facing. I hopefully will receive my ATT numbers soon so I will be able to finally take my nclex in the next 2-3 months (although I wont know my results until about 6 months).

In regards to my timeline, I picked the worst possible time to be an idiot. I graduated in august 2016 and got a DUI in October 2016 and did not hear back from the bon until the first week of June 2017

@Timboslice When did you submit your application to the CA BRN?

Apply in TN, one DUI is given a pass, if you are not on probation. Best of luck.

I submitted it late July 2016... Quite the process!!

dont lose hope. i know a fewpeople who got licensed after a dui during nsg school. goodluck!!!

Wow! Best of luck to you! Have you been granted your probationary license?
