Long ago I took a CNA position due to no one hiring new grads. The place that hired me had me take the exam in their place of business. I did the paperwork part which was very easy considering I had just graduated with my BSN. Then I had to show proficiency with transferring in several different scenarios.
They didn't give me any certificate I already had my RN license. I worked 6 months for them until they advanced me to an RN position. Sometimes just getting your foot in the door or getting any kind of training while waiting for the right job is better then nothing. There are many schools of thought on this along with many threads on this forum about it.
Anyway I believe where ever you will work will be responsible to test you out. Perhaps someone else who has recently done it can enlighten you further. Good luck to you.
hi me too im a filipino nurse migrated here in US livin in CA somewhere in san fernando valley.. Im RN in the philipipines i took LVN and im luckily passed the NCLEX PN i thinks you dont need to take CNA just go ahead with LVN if you want training and thats my purpose in getting LVN..just my only advice to you coz LVN is nearly to BSN..Now im planning to take the NCLEX RN this end of the year..godbless
you don't need to spend lots on money to review the NCLEX-RN. I am a foreign trained nurse and I passed the NCLEX using Kaplan NCLEX-RN 2010-2011 Edition: Strategies, Practice, and Review and Lippincott's Q&A Review for NCLEX-RN® (Lippincott's Review for Nclex-Rn).[/quoteThank you! I'll find those books like.. right now. :)

Well Lucky you! I hope luck will find me too. I haven't find the right person/company yet. Thank you though. :)

Hi Everyone! I finished my BSN degree in the Philippines last year, And just got here in California, LA AREA, couple of months ago. I heard I am allowed to challenge the CNA exam here? No I am not licensed in the Philippines. If theres anyone out there who has knowledge and kind heart, please help me and let me know what are the step by step process I should do to challenge the exam. I'm still working on my NCLEX and I need cheese so I could enroll myself in one of the expensive nursing review facilities here. lol Please Please Nurses! I really need answers so I could start doing it really soon! Thank you so much.
