Brown Mackie College

U.S.A. Ohio

Published

Hey All, just wondering if there are any brown mackie students or grads here

or if you guys know of anyone who attended this school please post I'm just trying to gain some knowledge about this school. Thanks:confused::chair:

Specializes in med/surg, oncology.
I checked out BMC in KY they wanted $30,000 for only 2 years plus after looking at the board of nursing the only one listed is the school in Findlay, ohio.I would rather go to a school that has a good track record.I see alot of schools that seem to be fly by night.Lets just get the students money and let them fend for themselves and I am not for that

$30,000 for an LPN!!! I went to Owens Community College in Toledo for my RN and it only cost me $14,000!!!

It is true that Owens offers a real value for a degree over other school in this area, however the downside is you have to wait to 2009 to get in to the RN program at Owens. That is main reason I tranfered to MUO's program which will cost a lot more, but in the long run will be cheaper! Plus the parking is horrible at Owens!:angryfire

True, very true, the parking IS terrible at Owens! Yes, there is a long wait as well, but I didn't know it was 2009 I thought it was only until fall of 2007! Well, I work at MUO and I like it very much. Good luck to you.

Hi, I have been looking for info on Brown Mackie too. Is there one in Ohio and if so where?

Yes actually there is. Its on Glendale Milford Raod in Cincinnati and I was going there for their Nursing Program. Need more info let mw know..

My friend graduated from Butler Tech and is an LPN. When I asked her about Brown Mackie she said that it is an awful school. She advised me to stay away- I had originally gone there to get info about their Medical Assisting program. She works with a lady that graduated from Brown Mackie and said that she is really slow with passing out her meds.... The school that I am trying to attend charges $20,000 for their LPN program and $24,000 for their RN program. However, there isn't a waiting list so that is a huge bonus. The admissions process is fairly simple (Butler Tech requires you to be a STNA and take Medical Terminology.) It really is a personal choice and you have to go for what you are comfortable with. Good luck to everyone!

Specializes in lots of specialties.

I personally went to great oaks in cincinnati for my LPN(8,000) for the program and went to Univ of Rio grande for my RN ( another 8,000) Im pretty happy with having foud the programs and not having to spend copious amounts of cash for my schooling.

I would still stay away from Brown Mackie...they may be accredited but I have never heard anything good about them. These days LPN schools and RN(ASN) programs are popping up left and right and you have to make the right choice of where to go. Sure you may be able to get in right now, but do you want to pay 20,000( about the cost of a 4 year degree ) for a 1 year diploma program then turn around and add another 25,000 to get an RN-ASN.I think it is entirely too much to pay and not even in close competition to all the other options for school out there if you get out there and dig deep......Just my opinion

Specializes in LTC.

Brown macke is a joke. Well the one I attended was. Extremely disorganized. Teachers who were learning with me. 12 hour clinicals that were only 2 or 3 hours long. WAY too expensive. I can go on and on. Trust me, do NOT attend that school.

hi... i k now this was a while ago that u posted but just curious.... which rn school at brown mackie was it that u attended?/ thanks

I looked at going to Brown Mackie and went in to talk to someone to get basic info. They wouldn't give me the tuition information or curriculum list until I formally applied. I was very turned off and they are still contacting me. It has been over a year and I still get reps calling and e-mailing me trying to convince me to attend their program. IMO, any decent nursing program shouldn't have to recruit students.
