Broward College starting Jan 2013

Have been hearing that BC will be requiring math prerequisite and may be dropping Chemistry pre-req for nursing program for students starting Jan 2013. Please post any specific information you have received from the school. I have emailed them but have not heard back. The people on the phone are not exactly sure what's going to happen.

Does anyone know which campus goes to memorial west hospital?

I was wondering is there a break between May & August, or are you guys working straight through.

From my understanding the program is 5 semesters, most likely taken without a break between semesters. I have seen a sample program schedule on the BC's nursing webpage.

You will be given a half of a semester break during the program. Of course this depends on your track, when you start the program and if you don't have to re-track and take classes during your break.

Do you know if we may continue with taking classes? or must we take the half semester break?

You must take the break they schedule for you because all of the classes are on a track. For example, certain classes are not offered during the 1st half of the summer semester so your break would be during those 6 weeks and then you would continue your track beginning the 2nd half of the summer or vice versa.

Hey guys!

I am planning on applying to the bc nursing program for august but if I don't get in I am going to apply for Jan. I was wondering if you guys could help me out with some questions I have! I've been posting in some other forms as well but you guys seem to know a lot of information about the program. I've taken all the prerequisites, passed the HESI, and completed the HCP core class. So I believe the only thing I have left to do is turn in the app. When I turn it in do I need to bring the HESI score and my HCP certificate? Also, is it mandatory that I meet with an advisor prior to turning in my application?

Hello anyone out there? I would like to know how did you prepare for your first semester of nursing school?

I had always wished someone could tell me how to prepare but really there's no way to prepare the only thing you can do is stay ahead of the game read and takes notes prior to class do the objectives if in north campus prior to class so when the teacher is lecturing u know what she's talking about use the fundamental book it's green I believe and it has a ton of practice questions do them ! Also do questions in the back of the chapters, buy Saunders nclex practice questions in there too read the skills book and constantly listen to the lectures over and over mos of the questions come right from lecture ! Good luck it's very doable seems impossible at first until u get a hang on it . Do objectives ahead of time, listen to the recording and do ur practice questions

Is nursing really hard or just a lot of work and studying? I am about to start pre-reqs this fall at the north and scared as hell because I don't want to fail.
