Any help on what to expect when taking the HESI? I have been doing practice tests for weeks now and I am still uneasy about if these tests are similar and useful.

Thanks Cathydotcom, I already registered for her class this summer. I was taking micro this semester but my professor was just terrible. I could have passed with a C, but I need an A to keep my GPA up.

Pookyp......I am right there with you. I understand that they say it is a requirement, but I see no point in infecting myself with this and risk getting the flu. So many people I know who have gotten the vaccine this year all were so sick with the flu. I'd say its been at least 10 years since I've had the flu. and my last job of the last seven years I was in constant contact with all different kinds of people. People I was more concerned about getting Hep C from than the Flu. I have also travelled frequently to third world countries, risked getting Malaria and yellow fever, and not had anything bother me. So my opinion the flu vaccine is a money making scheme.

I understand its not all about me, but this years vaccine only proved to be 9% effevtive. so regardless if I had the vaccine or not it was going to spread.

Thank you Stacie29.......I understand the risk about working around sick people, however there is not enough evidence that shows that the flu vaccine is very effective. From what I've learned and read about how viruses work, and that the flu strain is different every year; I am not convinced that the flu shot is beneficial. My Micro lab professor is a DR of microbiology and she works for a vaccine company, and even she says the flu vaccine is a joke. I'm just one who does not like to put a whole bunch of unnecessary chemicals in my body.

Has anyone taken Microbiology and gotten an "A" in the course? If so PM me the professor you took it with. Thanks!

Thank you Cathydotcom.....I was looking at what is required to apply and there are two different paragraphs. One that applies to applicant up to May2013 and one for August 2013 and beyond. Only in the up to May 2013 paragraph do they specify percentages required for the HESI. So that is where my confusion lies.

Do you know if we may continue with taking classes? or must we take the half semester break?

Is the flu shot mandatory for the nursing program? Never in my life have I gotten the flu shot and I am strongly opposed to it.

From my understanding the program is 5 semesters, most likely taken without a break between semesters. I have seen a sample program schedule on the BC's nursing webpage.

I too am trying to get all my pre-reqs done for January 2014. I have all my courses done expect microbiology, which I am taking in the summer. I still have to take my HESI.

Or is it now that the HESI test is only used for tie breakers regardless of the score.....ex: students A and B both have 3.3 GPAs and student A had an average of 79% and student be had an average of 75%. would student A be accepted over student be? or neither?

With the change in how many times the HESI can be taken.......are the minimum percentages no longer required for passing? ex: if I got a 75% on one section can I still apply, and still be accepted.

Does anyone know which campus goes to memorial west hospital?
