LOL sorry guys didn't mean to scare you. WJ is not BAD I just prefer HJ. I took HJ for Pharm and got an A. In my opinion he is veeeery easy aaaand he gives extra credit for every test he gives. His tests are relatively easy to the point that you don't even have to come to class. You will need to read though. Read, read, read. My experience with WJ is that he is sort of strict and has this dry sense of humor. Never really heard anything bad about him. Again didn't mean to scare you guys lol. No need to switch if you can't.

lol okay, well thanks for clearing that up. there is still space open in HJ's class, but idk i think i might stick with WJ. I will just study really extremely hard. Thanks tho!

I got the South welcome letter as well and I have a question for the physical because I am super confused. On the first few pages it says that WE MUST have a titer done for Rubella, Rubiola, and varicella even if we have been immunized. But then if you look at the small boxes where the dates and info is to be written by the health provider it says you do not need a titer if you have health statement or health forms so that contradicts itself.

I do have my immunization records from my highschool that is sealed, but not my doctor because they do not have the ancient records anymore.

Yes I know. Well I already did the physical and the doctor signed off that I already had the immunization because it says in those small boxes for each of the vaccinations that you do not need the titer if you have documentation (which I do). But the welcome letter for South campus is stating that the titers are required which is another $65 when I have already had the darn shots! I am so frustrated. Then everytime I call, no one answers the phone! I am calling today at 9am to check because I have to go back to the clinic to get my ppd checked! :confused:

The immunization thing is confusing. I'm 100% sure I've never gotten a Hep B vaccine so I don't understand why I would need a titer before getting immunized. They did say on the welcome sheet to hold all questions until orientation but this is all due by August the 9th.

I agree with the part in bold. I never had HJ, so I can't comment. I'm not doubting that he is better, but I don't know personally. And I also had someone completely different for Pharm, who was very hard. But I was still able to pull off an "A".

WJ is a decent professor. He answers questions, he knows what he is doing, and he is calm. He won't baby you, but he's not a monster either. I only know him from clinicals, but he did teach us skills in lab often. And I felt I learned from him (compared to a few others).

I will have him for Cardio at the end of August. I heard his class was hard, but it's passable. So I'll do my best to be prepared.

You might have to read and study more to pass his exams, but in reality, that's not a bad thing. You'll want to really understand what you are doing. And the NCLEX won't be easy. So in a way, it helps prepare you.

I always believe that while it's nice to have kind, easy professors, it's up to YOU to pass the class, not up to them to pass it for you. So if you end up with him, make up your mind that you will do what it takes to pass.

I know things change almost on a daily basis. But last year with us, it was either you had dates of the immunization, or you got a titer to prove you were immune. And with the Hepatitis B, you also had the option to decline it.

However, a lot of times people get the shots, and when they get a titer, they have absolutely no immunity. So maybe they are now asking for titers to prove you are immune. But it seems odd that they would force you to get BOTH a shot and a titer. I would definitely get that cleared up.

Also, for the physicals, we had to have the doctor fill out the BC physical form. The dean wouldn't accept it on any other form. But now there is a new dean, so maybe she will take either. Just make sure you find out before the deadline.

OK i found out the answer for the physicals! YOU DO HAVE TO HAVE A TITER for Rubiola (Mumps), Rubella, and Varicella EVEN THOUGH YOU HAVE HAD PREVIOUS IMMUNIZATION SHOTS and have the proof. They are making us do the titers even though we have previously had the shots to prove that we are still immune. One lady told me that this rule did vary by campus though, but I spoke to the nursing dept at South campus and this is the policy for SOUTH CAMPUS. So make sure you do the titers for the above mentioned even if you have a previous record of shots.

Regarding the HEP B. You can get shot records from your highschool. I just called the office and the lady printed one and I picked it up. This showed my HEP B shots (there is a series of 3). There is also a line on the physical where you can sign to decline the HEP B shots if you do not want to take them.

I did the physical, all the titers and tetorifice shot and ppd test for $217. :eek:

Also, this stuff is due by August 9th, if you have a question about this stuff CALL THEM dont wait or they can drop you out of the program. I believe they said to wait to hear about the books and uniforms and things like that.

It says to "look professional" when you are not in uniform. What exactly does that mean that we should wear?!

Jena1211, Where did you get your physical done? That is a really good price for all of the stuff you had done. I was also wondering the same thing on what to wear.
