Oh yeah and I wanted to add to be prepared about this: When you take tests for process 1 and 2 in lecture, they DO NOT REVIEW THE TEST BOOKLET. When you turn the test that is the last you see of it. For their "test review" they hand you back you answer scantron with the bubbles that were marked wrong. Then they give you the Objective listed in your module packet that pertains to that question and you are to go back and read the book to see if you can find the answer. Problem with that is that the modules are sometimes very general and are not in order or on the same pages some of the times. I wasn't prepared with this type of procedure. I discussed this with an advisor and she said that she had wanted to speak to the dean to get that rule changed but I don't know the outcome.

Hello all! I am a former student from the August 2010 class at South Campus. Unfortunately I had to withdraw because I was failing out. Don't let that discourage you though!!! I had to work a little more than part time and I have a 2 year old daughter and my husband works A LOT so I didn't have too much help. I wanted to offer the advice to relax! and you will need to do a LOT OF READING, A LOT OF HOMEWORK, and you will need to leave like every day open for class, lab time (first semester you are required to do like 3 lab hours a week), and studying and homework. Clinicals are on Tuesdays or Wednesdays from 7 to 7 and YES they are 12 hours long! You will use all of the available time. There were two instances where we needed to come both days from 7 to 7. They say to leave both days open because instances like that will happen and also, they may switch you in the beginning if one lab professor has too many students. I, myself, did not get switched. Also for my class, all of the students were in one classroom for process 1 and 2 lecture, with KG and JCS. Pharm was split between 2 instructors, and math was split and obviously the clinicals are split. We did not have to have the scrub uniform until we passed our return demos for clinical 1 and were allowed to go to the hospital. You have 2 return demos for clinicals which is where they test you actually performing the skills on another student. My best advice for these is don't be nervous, and unfortunately some instructors are much harder on others, you can PM me if you need further info. I had to wind up withdrawing because I was failing process 1 so I in turn had to withdraw from clinical because they go side by side, so I wasted money on the scrubs. Also, DONT buy the bag with the clinical stuff in it as you will not need this until process 2. As far as books, I remember I needed, the perry and potter fundamentals of nursing and the clinical book by perry and potter. I did not need my math book, I had LH, but it was helpful for problems, I DID NEED MY PHARM BOOK because the tests with this professor were SO general that I needed everything I could get. I also bought some study guide books and the drug guide and the medical dictionary. If there is anything I missed and if you have any questions, PM me, I am here to help. And stay motivated! I really have no idea. I am in the face to face, and that is hard. I couldn't imagine trying to do this online. I have heard that the online class is hard. The face to face is hard to. All through college I have been really good with online classes but if I had to recommend an option for nursing from my experience so far, I would say go with the face to face option. Im sorry I couldnt be of more help.

Just wanted to note that they told us no flare scrub pants with slits this semester.

Welp! Failed my first return demo! I couldn't believe it! I cried! It really was the most nerve wrecking thing I have done in my life! Lets just hope I can pass this next one!

I KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT! My head feels like it is going to explode and I am so cranky from lack of sleep! Will this ever get better? lol

Hey! First week down and all I have to say is this is EXTREMELY overwhelming, but doable. I just so happen to be that person that has a 2 year old daughter and I have to work because I have a mortgage and bills to pay so I don't have the little extra time that you DO NEED. When they tell you that you need to cut down your work schedule if you work, they were not lying. Granted, I am in the first year and along with theory and clinical we have pharmacology and math, so there is a little extra that we have to do as well, so that takes up your time. Plus, you have to do a certain amount of extra hours in the nursing lab for a grade so you have to be available. When I woke up on the third day I looked at my husband and started crying. lol. This is hard, I am not going to lie, but people do it all the time and are successful so I believe I can do this too! What I would recommend for those of you who know you got in and want to get a head start is get the objectives for theory somehow (we have a packet in the bookstore that is a module packet for NUR1020 and NUR1020L and NUR1210 and NUR1210L) and start looking up the objectives in that packet and answering them from the Fundamentals of nursing Perry and Potter book. Only problem with that is, I don't know if the objectives change, or if the book may change, or if some instructors and campuses have different objectives? I am at South and I bought my module packet at Central and they are the same thing, but there was a packet for a specific instructor at Central that had something different. So, I am so happy you are excited because you are about to embark on a journey to another demention! I will warn you that they first week is crazy because you are adjusting to being in a program that is fast paced and demanding, but you need to keep telling yourself that YOU CAN DO IT and YOU WILL DO IT! If you keep yourself positive and surround you with positive and supportive people, it can be done! But you will need time available to you because you need to spend a lot of time in school and when you are outside of school you better be studying! Good luck to you all! I just started this year and we just had the orientation. Basically NO YOU CANNOT TRANSFER. You can try and speak to the dean and see if they will grant you a relocation if there is space on another campus but it rarely happens.

I believe Southern Breezes is the name of the cafeteria or the breezeway in that area. I am confused as to where to go the first day of theory though. The email I received says bldg 69 room 133 but on my paid schedule it lists a module / portable?? Where is everyone going for the first day of theory tomorrow?

I honestly have no clue. I already have one because my husband did the Paramedic program, but I would like to know as well.

Did you register for the online course or the face to face course? I took the online course and we only had to buy the CPR book. When I registered at the school they told me where I had to go on campus for an orientation for online students. At that orientation we received all the information for our log ins and course information as well as we had to sign up for a day to attend the face to face CPR portion of the class. Hello. I am starting the nursing program for Broward next week! And just want to share with you what I did. It is true that the CEU and HCP/core class is not the same thing. At Sheridan Tech the CORE class INCLUDES all the CEU's, so when you are finished with the core class at Sheridan Tech you will have all of your CEU's completed including CPR. BC accepted all of these from me with no problems. I did the online core class at Sheridan Tech which is super easy. For your information about the HESI, I did my test at FAU and they print the results for you RIGHT AFTER you are done. I took these scores into the Health Science admissions along with my application and they accepted that. Now as far as waiting to hear if you were accepted, it usually takes up to 30 days after the application deadline to hear from them. The last application period was very weird though because they just implemented the HESI test and was very confusing for all. I had turned in all my paperwork at the end of June and was accepted that day because I had a lot of points, but like I said, the last application period was extremely unorganized and different than they usually do it. I just got an email from j c-s. It is saying that we need to attend on 24th AND 25th from 8am to 6pm. For Day 1 (24th) it says We need our Perry and Potter skills book, Jarvis physical assessment book, stethoscope, pen light, goggles, watch with a second hand, clipboard, and black ink pen, and the orientation packet. There is reading we have to do before class and some assignments. Then on day 2 (25th) we need to wear something that exposes our chest area such as a tank top. We will need to brink the stuff you need above along with a manual blood pressure cuff. There is also reading to do before this day as well. HERE WE GO!

Ok, yeah I was wrong about the original class times for LH's class woops! And I am going to the bookstore today I will try and find out.

Did anyone receive the email from the mtb1370 professor LH about him changing the class time to Thurs from 1PM to 5PM. It was originally 1PM to 3PM then 3PM to 5PM so it gave us a 2 hour break. So he's taking away the 2 hour break?
