Broward College RN Program May 2010

Published

Has anyone turned in their application yet?! Btw, I heard that Central campus might NOT have a May class :sniff:

Dear Nursing Applicant:

Thank you for your interest in the limited access Registered Nursing (RN) program at Broward College (BC). All applicants were reviewed using the nursing point system criterion accessible on the Broward College website at http://www.broward.edu/nursing/nursing/AdmissionInfo/page8599.html.

There were 761 applicants competing for 90 seats in the May 2010 nursing class. 90 candidates were selected who earned between 12 - 19 total points. 10 alternates were selected to fill any seats that become available. This number accounts for 10% of the seats being offered.

After reviewing your application, it was determined that your earned points did not qualify you to receive a seat into the May 2010 nursing class. However, it is important to inform you that students selected for admission are provided a deadline date to register for nursing classes. Those candidates who fail to meet the registration deadline, failed required screenings, or decline entry into the program will forfeit their opportunity to participate in the program. When the alternate group of students is placed, the next candidate(s) in the applicant pool with the highest points will be selected to fill remaining seat(s).

Candidates selected for admission will be notified through their free BC email account by the beginning of April.

The next application period will be from March 1 ? May 15, 2010, for the August 2010 class.

Thank you for choosing Broward College!

Sincerely,

:twocents:I re-took all my A&P's (just lecture) and chemistry(just lecture)at FIU b/c I had C's in the lecture which was giving me low points. But BC fully accepted them because I sent in my transcript from FIU and no complaints from them, also my friend who also did the same thing except she re-took english and A&P 2 which they also fully accepted. So we did not have to pay alot of money to any private institution:twocents::icon_roll:specs:

I have the ENC 1101 from BC...so why don't they accept a higher level English from BC. Do you have to replace the lower lever English or could I just take a higher level English? I don't have any higher English at this point so I would rather do that than a retake.

Does anyone know about the English class options?

Thanks!

I do not believe its like chemistry where you can take higher classes to replace it with. But if that was the case then they will replace your ENC1101 with ENC1102. So your best bet is to ask them first and if they say you can retake it then take it at a public institution where its not going to be as much:twocents:

the hesi book is called

Evolve Reach Admission Assessment Exam Review Test

ISBN 978-1-4160-5635-5

I went today to ask about the english class, and they told me that the only way to change it was to go to a private university like keiser and replace it. The only good thing is that it's gonna be for like 1 month, and it's relatively easy. My points will jump from 8-12. Lord knows the sacrifices that i'm going through for all of this

Keiser doesn't let you take classes anymore unless you enroll in a program. I called them a couple of weeks ago about taking A&P. Let me know if they tell you something different! Thanks!

I got a B in chem so if I were to take a higher chem course @ BC and got an A it would replace it???

maybe he could lie and say he is n a program, then drop the program once he takes the enc over.. or will they tell him he doesnt have to take the enc over... then he wont be able to register

IMO -- he should NEVER lie, especially about something to do with a future career.

Not good advice. You gotta stay on the high road, no matter how much you want something.:D

i mean he should go to kieser and sign up for any program and take the Enc 1101 class that he needs and then just tell them that he decided not take go along with the program..That is the only what that he is going to get a grade. cus he has to be in a program in order to take a class at Kieser. Plenty people start programs and change there minds once they get in. I think i just choosed the wrong words when i posted that reply...

IF not then he can go to St Thomas, Phonex, Barry, and any other private college to take the course.. They wills till cost almost the same, he just wont be done in 30 days. He wanted Kieser because one class last 30 days. I guess they got hipped to it. so now there making students be admitted in a program before they take any classes.

They are making getting an education so difficult.. I dont understand this society..

Well, the guy I know did not get in either. He had 12pts and is very disappointed...

I got in as an alternate with twelve points.

I wonder if all 90 people ahead of me will keep their spots.....if not I may be fine. I can't believe 12 points wasn't enough to get it. Last semester, people with EIGHT points were alternates.

Did the guy you know with twelve points make alternate?

You know, when I was handing in my application in person, the lady put it in the system in person and had me sit with her. She was saying stuff like, "Oh, you'll get in! These grades are just fine! Go home and tell your kids that "Momma did well!"

I guess she didn't know what the pool was going to be like this time around.

I also didn't know that it was for North Campus only. I applied for Central.
