Broward College RN Program May 2010

U.S.A. Florida

Has anyone turned in their application yet?! Btw, I heard that Central campus might NOT have a May class :sniff:

I signed up for the English class at keiser on pines and flamingo. The class runs from the first to the 26, so it's gonna be quick, august here I come :)

What is the prefix for the English Class? How many days a week do you have to take it? I'm interested in retaking it too...so any info would be appreciated!

I believe it's enc1101, that's what i picked

Oh, and it's 3 days a week, and it lasts 26 days.

Did you confirm with the advisor that you could replace your english with a class with the same prefix? I was looking at Phoenix because I was told it had to have a different prefix for any class that you do as a retake.

I've 12 points and was not selected as alternate - I wonder how they select alternates :(

I was thinking the same thing. Why me and not you? I wonder if they go off of "tie breaker" flow chart thingy on the nursing web page. Maybe it was the Micro grade or something.

Do you think they consider race/age/gender in any way to round things out? I can't imagine that they do.

So sorry you didn't get in.

Here is what the site says:

"In the event of a tie, students will be given one (1) point for the completion of each college-level, general education course that is required toward the Associate in Science Degree for the Nursing Program. In the event that a tie remains, the point will be awarded to the student with the highest grades in the required courses.

General Education courses completed prior to admission may be used to assign points in the event there is a tie for a seat.

Humanities course with writing credit (see catalog for listing)

Social and Behavioral Science course (see catalog for listing)

MCB2013 & Lab (Microbiology and Lab"

I do have a BA, so I have fulfilled the maximum number of college level-gen ed courses. I also have a 4.0 in non-science. I got an A in Micro.

Maybe that might help to answer questions.

I still don't like to see the differences between last year's applicant pool points vs. this year's situation, and how that totally messed with a bunch of folks' lives. With 12 points you would have gotten in for that past January start for sure.

Thank you DawnSue for your words.- I also have a BA and completed the

Humanities and Social and Behavioral Science courses

Unfortunately, I've not taken Micro yet - that's probably the reason why I was not picked -

I also believe that everything happens for a reason - I will try for August.

Thanks again

Ostlouis -- it absolutely sounds like it was Micro, then.

Future applicants reading this thread-- be forwarned!

Do you now have to take the HESI in order to apply for August?

If so, I took it for FAU and it was really easy. You should nail it. And it was not expensive. I reviewed for about 10 days or so, on and off.

Hello! Quick question... I just submitted my app for August on the 2nd, and my BC still says that I have no limited access applications to display... How long did it take for everyones to show up for May term?

Thank you! :)

Mine showed up right away...But I submitted it in person @ the central campus. Can I ask you a question..how was the Entrance Exam??

The entrance exam wasn't tooooo bad... The english parts were very, very easy... Math kinda sucked, you had to do it all on a dry erase board, no calculator.. A&P was a bit tricky.. Some questions were very in depth, some not so much. All in all, it was pretty ok!

anyone denied by a letter but received a surprise email that you were selective as an alternative???
