Broward College RN Program Fall 2010

Published

Hello. Has anyone attending Broward College applied for the fall 2010 rn program as of yet??:thankya:

oh wow.. i did not kno they will be using the TEAS test soon, that just makes it even more difficult to get in. i was told all u have to do is have the minimum to get into nova and that they dont compare gpa's.. u just have to meet the requirements and go to some interview... but my source wasnt too reliable anyway. i heard about that scholarship as well... but the only thing throwing me off is that you have to sign a contract to work with that baptist hospital in miami for 3 years after u finish the program. i dont want to sign any contract and then end up changing my mind wen i finish nursing school u kno.. i want to have a choice of where i want to work.. and having to stay somewhere that u dnt want to be for 3 years is a really long time if u think about it.

Hi Ladieej!!!!

I don't know if someone have told u this b4...But those 3 years contract they are offering u can be a life saving...U'll see, I've been reading all the threads from the New grad nurses forum, and can't find a job anywhere....They have also posted the letters of rejection from the hospitals, which basically said that they are not accepting new grads....and some others requires at least 1 year exps....I've also search for jobs as ADN in different sites and they actually require the same...1 year exp at least... Some of the new RNs are so desperates that are even considering working as a cashier while volunteering at a hospital....so...you should consider the opportunity.

I just wanted to let you know about this...it's kind of odd to know that we are probably not going to find any job after so much time & effort. So..here u got my :twocents:

hey yisy4u, thanks for your insight. i know my post wasnt too long ago.... but since then i have too learned of the fact that many hospitals are not hiring new grads... which is why i am now looking at nova as a second option solely because of the baptist partnership they have... i even went to an information session for nursing at nova on saturday and found it very informative : )

Hi ladieej

I'm glad for you...like I said b4, that contract will be a life saving....:)

Let me ask u something....Are you going for the ADN or the BSN...'cause I went to the Nova's web page yesterday, and I only saw that they have BSN and MSN....but I saw nothing about an ADN program, which is the one I'm interested on....I just need to find some other schools that I can apply for when the moment comes....:uhoh3:

well i eventually plan on getting a BSN, but since Broward only offers an ADN program im just trying to start there and then get my BS at a university. If i dont get into Broward's program and i end up getting into Nova's program then i will just be killing two birds with one stone and going straight for my BSN--that is the minimum that they offer. If i finish nursing at Broward and get an ADN.. i am still looking at going to Nova for the RN-BSN transition (not sure if this particular option offers the Baptist scholarship), and i also have FIU and FAU in consideration. Im really just taking it one step at a time, not trying to look too far ahead and worry myself. Just concerned with getting in to BC's program for now... that is the only place i've applied for the fall (stupid, i know :(

so how far along are you yisy4u... have you completed your prereqs yet?

Is it true that the HESI is no longer required for BC? I keep hearing this!

omg!! Where did you hear that?? It still states you need to take it on their web site.

well it's the talk at Central. I called North today and was told you still have to take the HESI but it's to see how you scored. It's not as important in the selection process as before.

is it true that the hesi is no longer required for bc? i keep hearing this!

there is some truth to that statement. many people have not been passing the hesi, and therefore, there has been very few applicants... they say in the 100's as opposed to the typical 500+ apps. so nursing admissions had this meeting on wednsday to discuss how they were going to use the hesi in the admission process and they first decided to let people turn in their applications still whether they passed it or not or even if they haven't taken it yet. then a change was made to this decision the next day (im assuming they had another meeting) saying that completion of all 5 sections of the hesi will be required to turn in an application (pass or fail) but it wont guarantee acceptance into the program----> this announcement was made on broward college's facebook page. they just haven't updated the nursing program page yet on bc's website, i beleive they are still finalizing their decision. also, if you go to this thread: https://allnurses.com/fl-nursing-programs/broward-college-august-460537-page20.html, you will find more information about what's going on.

Is funny u asked...I haven't even started them yet...This Fall I'll be taking ENC I, chemistry, and something else, but still don't know what. I'm still deciding at what school to start. I live in Miami, so MDC is a lot closer that BC, but still don't know what to do. MDC and BC nursing programs have different pre-requisits, between them BC has the less , so I might take the classes BC requires at MDC, and later on do a transfer.

Oh and sorry I didn't answer u b4...I didn't see it until now. :o

Does anyone know when you are accepted or not accepted into Browards rn program do you get an email first or check or rely on the limit application when you sign in mybc login?

Your limited status application will show "accepted" first. Then, you will get an email.

Posting again for who are monitoring this page
