Broward College Nursing Program August 2016

U.S.A. Florida

Updated:   Published

Hello!

I just wanted to make a thread for nursing program at BC for this coming Fall semester.

I passed the Hesi last week after 4 days of studying. (Got tired of studying the Elvesier book so I took my chances)

My overall score: 85%. My lowest score's reading: 78% ( English is my second language and I took this section last so didn't have enough time to really read the questions)

I turned in my application last Wednesday. The lady said to look for an email around May- June.

Anyone is applying for Fall? Did your status on myBC change yet?

To all the alternates (like me) is anyone as nervous as me to find out what they are going to tell us at the orientation ? Like where do we go from there ? In the past have they told the alternates at orientation that their are spots for them right then and there or how does it work ? Is everyone doing the waiting game or have other plans ?

As for me I will attend orientation and have my hopes up but also looking into my other options like this technical school that offers an lpn program for 14 months which I might do if not accepted officially of course. and transition over to do the lpn to RN which takes 1 year. I just don't to wait until January and not get in :(

Is the orientation for July 1 at central at 1pm for alternates only

Yes, Alternates are only attending the July 1, 1pm meeting.

Hey Melissa, I am also an alternate and have my orientation on July 1 at 1pm. I personally suggest you go to orientation and wait and see if we are accepted. There is a good chance we will be but who knows. It's only two weeks away. Once we know if we are accepted on the day of orientation then if for whatever reason we are not accepted then start looking at technical schools/ private schools. I'm sure by the day of orientation we should have an answer if we are in or not. Another suggestion I have which I'm also going to do myself if we don't get accepted on the day of orientation... I say go straight to an RN program at a technical school or private school. DO NOT waste your money taking out loans just to do an LPN program and then have to do the RN it doesn't make sense. In the same 12 months or 16 months you can finish your RN program at Keiser or Concorde or some other private/ technical school. Why waste more time and money? Just go ahead and use that time and money you are investing in doing your LPN to do your RN schooling at one of those schools. You will regret it later on and say why didn't I just do my RN. Trust me I as well would love to get accepted into Broward's RN program and have all of us alternates get a seat but if it doesn't work out we can't cry over spilled milk. We have to keep moving forward. Just don't waste time. I regret when I went to Keiser and wasted 10 months doing their Registered Medical Assisting program. It was a great experience and I worked as a medical assistant for three years, but if I would've just done my RN at Keiser I would be a registered nurse years ago. So just really think about what you are going to do. This is your life and unfortunately we don't live forever so do what makes you happy and don't let anything detour you. I am a single mother of two kids one is 5 the other is 3 and I'm 25 years old and I don't let anything stop me. I worked hard for my gpa to reach a 3.0 so yes it hurt but keep moving forward even if we don't get it and have to attend a school we choose as a second option oh well life happens. So I hope you don't let go of your dreams and keep moving forward. Just pray about it. :)

You guys will get in! I'll be thinking of you on the 1st! And I expect to hear good news. Keep your heads up ladies.

Anyone know if there's a Facebook page for our term made yet?

Thank you so much for those encouraging words you are definitely right I'm 21 I'm just really trying to find my place nursing is something I always wanted to do and really want to achieve it regardless of the money and everything I'm just trying to find my options because I really want to start in August I graduated with my AA August of last year so this is the first time I apply to a nursing program (missed the deadline for May term) but you're right I'm going to wait the 2 weeks and go from there and attend a private school for nursing if worse comes to worse thank you for your kind thoughts !

Well said Diana009! We still have a chance. It's not like we got a letter saying we're denied. Until they tell us "no, you are not accepted because there is no seat for you" (or something of that nature) then we are fine. We'll see what happens at orientation. I'm a strong believer in speaking (good) things into existence, so I'm speaking it that we get a seat. So until then be strong. Cry, scream, shout, or whatever you have to do to let it out. I know that it hurts because it's not like we missed it by 5 or 1 or 2 points....we missed it by point 1 of a point. We gotta keep our heads up mama!! í ½í±
