Hi everyone I didn't see one made yet so I guess this will be the official thread for BC May 2015!
Hey everyone,My name is Lorraine and I have been a ghost on this thread, but I've decided to speak-up, because I am having a terrible time getting my titers done. I went to my PCP's earliest appointment and all they ended up doing (after making me wait 4 hours) was giving me a prescription for titers that they think I might be able to take to a lab... call me crazy, but that seems like it is not going to work when I walk into LabCorp asking for tests. They had no idea what I was talking about when I said I needed them to order tests and told me that I could simply just walk into Quest and have them done any time. Um, are you kidding me?
Do any of you have a recommendation for a walk-in clinic or doctor's office that is competent enough to just order titers? I've already wasted a week waiting for my PCP to be available. At this point, I do not care much about cost. I just want this done right and fast.
By the way, I will be attending class at Central Campus if I ever get my stupid titers done.
Thanks and best wishes to all of you.
I just had my titers done at quest today. When I went to walgreens for my vaccinations she gave me a prescription for the titers also and I took it to quest and it was fine. Just make sure the prescription has the doctors name, the name of the titers we need done and a number to fax back the results
Hi Lorraine & welcome! U seem pretty frustrated. Shot me an email: [email protected] will help u with that in no time. Sorry u had to waste your time at the pcp
doctors 365 has a great package deal for everything you need. I didn't do it through them as I had my insurance cover pretty much everything through my primary doctor. But I did look up doctors 365 because my friend didn't have insurance and needed to get it done....look them up, I know previous classes have gone there too.
The tetorifice shot was the only thing that hurt out of everything....and let me tell you i HATE needles. The medical assistant literlly stabbed my arm, but I think that was just her technique..just GET IT OVER IT. Don't think about it, I didn't. I haven't gotten a shot in YEARS, I was more excited than nervous to get everything done to turn in and not worry about it. It will hurt for just a second or two, mine is still a bit swollen...my arm was sore for a couple of days after, but nothing too hard to deal with. Trust me I had a horrible fear of needles until a couple of years ago when the real pain was me donating blood LOL, have you seen the size of those needles?! Anyway, don't be afraid, one day you will be the one giving these shots!!
I am not certain about Broward health, I went to a boca regional outpatient center that had a doctor covered by my insurance. You will have to find one under your doctor ASAP as some new patients have to wait sometimes weeks to get an appointment. I was lucky with this one, he is a GREAT doctor and he was able to see me within the week.
So, How did it go taking all those shots????? Did anyone have a reaction? Did you get sick later on that week?? Did the injection site get red and swollen? Any strange things happen to you? I am so scared to take the shots, its the deciding factor whether I will go in August or not. Let me know.
I received my tetorifice shot on Monday injected in my thigh. Not to scare anyone, but reactions will very for every individual. My thigh was swollen pretty bad and every day the swollen increased even though I applied ice it didn't decrease the swelling until the fourth day yesterday. Happy to say this morning I noticed it's gone down significantly thank goodness almost back to norm.
