Hey there! This is a tread for anyone trying to get into the May nursing program in Broward College. Have you guys completed everything we need?
I still have to take my HESI and I am half way done with the Health Core class. I am so nervous. I am still not completely sure on how BC does the admission criteria, but I have high hopes.
Leave anything below. Lets help each other out :)
Hello everyone! :) can anybody share so far their nursing experience at Broward college? The good and bad side? I'm thinking of starting next year....any tips would be very appreciated :)
Don't go to Broward college well don't go to south campus. The students know more than the dean does. And it was ok until half the class failed.
Sent from 'her' iPhone using allnurses ???
Broward College is not a bad school. I can't speak for South Campus but I can for North... The teachers really do care and want you to succeed, but you have to put in the work. If you study the same way you did before nursing school (like I did too... I think we all did, you know.. one or two days before the test cramming everything in) then you are going to fail. No questions asked. Nursing school is hard, and it's hard for a reason. People's lives are in our hands, we have to know our stuff.
As long as you read what you are assigned, go over the powerpoints, and constantly reinforce what you have learned then you will do just fine. Just be prepared to give up most of your social life, but remember that it is only temporary.
Hey people!
I just took the HESI, LIKE TODAY. 12/17/14.... scored an 86% overall!
Reading comp. - 86%
Grammar - 88%
Vocab. -80%
A&P -84%
Math - 92%
I am applying for Broward's North Campus Nursing Program May 2014.
I was a wreck taking this test. Anxiety through the roof. I will try to walk you through every section in chronicle order in which I thought was efficient. (and was)
1. Math: Most anxiety (MATH WAS MY WEAK SUBJECT!), BUT if you have the Evolve Reach Hesi Assesment Book Edition 3 YOU WILL BE FINE.
MOSTLY: Ration ex: 3:2::x:40 and ADDING, SUBRTACTING, DIVIDING FRACTIONS. House hold CONVERSIONS (IF YOU HAVE EVOLVE REACH BOOK REMEMBER CONVERSION TABLE! ) ..I memorized it, wrote it on the scrap piece of paper as soon as I got in the test, and referred back to it every time a conversion problem came up! Surprisingly NO ROMAN #, DID HAVE MILITARY TIME! RELAXXXXXX AND BREATHE BE TIME EFFECIENT! DID this in about an hour.
2. Reading Comp.: If you study the Evolve Reach Book you will be fine! A lot of main idea Q's and inferred topic Q's! Short paragraphs 2-4 each set of Q's! time effecient!
3. Grammar: DEFINITELY remember the Evolve Reach book recommended! The clauses, the predicates, etc.. know whats RIGHT AND WRONG! You have to identify what was grammatically INCORRECT/CORRECT with sentences.
4. Vocab. - LOWEST SCORE! WHY? I hardly studied for this section, should've MEMORIZED EVOLVE REACH VOCAB AND THENNNNNNN SOME! Broaden your study horizons, a lot of it was basic stuff though ..you never know! :/ (WORDS REMEMBERED: PATENT, UBIQUITOUS, BILATERAL, INSIDIOUS, LATENT, ETC)
5. A&P: READ THROUGH EVOLVE REACH Book! Know planes, heart pathways, hypothalamus glands, pituitary, thyroid, what carries oxygen/CO2, What absorbs nutrients (small Int), Enzymes and Hormones, BASIC STUFF, lobes of brain and functions! etc....MOST IMPORTANTLY only 30 Q's! :-)
Please, if anyone is stressed like I sure was, breathe and be confident. Believe me..it was NOT as bad as we anticipated!
email me with Q's @ : [email protected]
You all will kiss a$$! best of luck ladies, we WILL BE NURSES !!
How has everyone here liked their experience at BC?
I am looking into applying soon, but have been very reluctant after reading all the horror stories and high attrition rate. I have been looking at other options such as PBSC, or even private schools because the student reviews are so negative.
Any help or feedback is greatly appreciated!
