Broward College Nursing May 2014

Hey there! This is a tread for anyone trying to get into the May nursing program in Broward College. Have you guys completed everything we need?

I still have to take my HESI and I am half way done with the Health Core class. I am so nervous. I am still not completely sure on how BC does the admission criteria, but I have high hopes.

Leave anything below. Lets help each other out :)

Hello,

I'm looking to start taking my pre-reqs in the summer. I have a prior degree and a lot of my credits transferred over. My advisor suggested I take a Chem class prior to take Human Anatomy. I need to take both Human Anatomy plus the labs and the Health core class before I can apply.

Did anyone take Chem before taking Human Anatomy? Does anyone thing its really beneficial? She did tell me this was an option either way I would end up taking it.

The Chem class does cover some organic chemistry which will help you out in A&P 2 when you start to study physiology it will help you understand how the body works a little better . . cause A&P in of itself is A LOT of information.

Hey all, I just finished leaving central campus after speaking with nursing admissions and some nursing professors. Unfortunately, it looks like we're going to have to wait another week. The lady at nursing admissions said she hopes to see all applications by this Friday, and send out acceptance emails by mid week, next week. Arrrrggghhh... This wait is killing me. I also tried to asked if they will be using the Fundamentals of Nursing 8th edition but they could not give me a definite answer but the professor I spoke to said if they do change books it is usually for the August term. Good luck everyone!

Wow seriously!!! I think registration for summer starts next week already. Either way, that gives us one month to study and do all the medical requirements. Aren't we supposed to do drug testing and all that good stuff?

Isnt chem a pre-req for a&p and microbiology?

Anyone here applying for the LPN-RN transition in may?

I am. My friend and I just submitted all of our stuff today.

Hello StEt0417,

I took CHM and Anatomy I (lecture & Lab) together. In addition, I had to take EAP (English) too, but I did very good in all of these classes. I got A in all. So I think you will do well in it.

I did the same. ant 1 with lab plus chm1032 with lab I got As in all 4... It worked out well. Then ant 2 with lab in the summer and micro w lab in the fall.

I also just finished the core at Sheridan. It was worked out great.

I took CORE online at Sheridan before my pre-req. Then A&P I, EAP and CHM, I finished taking A&P 2 (Lecture & Lab) and Micro together, I couldn't wait a whole semester just because Micro is hard. I took together even though my adviser was telling me how tough it could be, but I did it and was ok. It was hard, but I got A in everything again. So it is not impossible guys.

I finished my prerequisites since 2010. My original plan in 2010 was to go into a traditional bsn program but life didn't workout that way. Umm I didn't my LPN at Sheridan last year and passed my boards jan 2014. Trying to get in for May 2014 for LPN to rn but I took the hesi today and my scores for reading and math weren't too good. I have to retake those sections. What's the lowest hesi score can someone possible get and still get in?

. The lowest is 75%

75? Hmm ok that's doable

Sent from 'her' iPhone using allnurses ???

Those certification are not included at Broward in the health core class and must be taken in addition to the health core class.

Ok great thanks for the info. My advisor did not tell me that. I signed up to take those classes while I wait for summer classes to start.

That's good to hear. I planned on taking Anatomy I in the summer then II in the fall. Then I can apply for the nursing program. None of these classes are available for the winter term so I have to wait.
