Broward College Nursing January 2016

Published

Hey everyone, I'm applying to the nursing program for January 2016 at Broward College. I guess this will be the official thread for the January 2016, Broward college nursing students; since no one has made one yet. Who else is applying for this term and what courses do you have remaining to finish pre reqs? I'm currently enrolled in A&P 2 lecture and lab and also a math class which are the last two courses I need to apply. I finish the classes in August yayyy :)

Good luck :)

What kind of shoes should we buy? I'm confused about the logos

All white sneakers. No type of logos. No breathable holes (in case of spills). I was told no cloth type shoes (i.e. Canvas, Vans, Keds). My scrub bottoms are long enough that if there's a logo at the top/back of the shoe it'll cover it up. I'm still having a hard time looking for shoes though.

So where is everyone buying books? Buying them new/used?

Use directtextbook.com .... I am going to.south campus about to pass process 2 .. all I can say is study hard .... the books that are important that I used was perry potter fundamentals and perry potter clinical ....must have books in my opinion .... also you need the davis drug book and jarvis physical assessment .......as for math I.suggest get the old edition it works just as good and for only $8 and get the old edition cox book $9 it worked for me I used it alot for my care plans..... as for pharmacology depends on your teacher but I just rented it way cheaper and only for one semester....the fluid and electrolytes I only used it once in process two .....if you are buying get it used ... I barely used the med surge book. The pagana book was pretty useful ....

In order to take stats you need college alegebra it's a pre req for stats

No you dont! You can take pre stats and then STA 2023

Do we need all the book listed on the orientation packet book list? The lady in the book store told me she doesn't think everything on the list is needed.

If you look closely at the book lost it breaks it down into terms. The first long list you see is for the first term. And yes you'll be using them. Been there and done that.

Don't make it complicated. All white nikes, adidas, new balance, all white nursing shoes.

Well to avoid taking "pre" stats you can just take Mac 1105 and go straight to stats. Mac 1105 is necessary for your bsn anyway.

Thats what I heard too, that liberal arts is a little easier. Unfortunately all I could register for with a good professor was liberal arts which I don't think is a bad thing. I already spoke to an advisor and she said I need any kind of college level math to apply and gave me a list of math courses I can take. Thank you everyone!

Oh thats what i was always told!! Sorry for the mix up lol

Hello all,I attend north and am finishing up process 2 as we speak. I'm selling my Perry & Potter textbook WITH a study guide workbook for 100$, both were brand new when I bought them. They are without any highlighting or marks. I also didn't register the book so you can have access to the online material. My suggestion is to read during your break! These past 2 semesters weren't too tough but time is definitely not on your side. Please email me if interested in the book [email protected]

Hey there! Has anyone going to the central campus in January received the syllabus from the professors yet? I know finals are wrapping up, but I remember hearing in orientation that at some point we'll get the syllabus for our various classes, so I'm just curious. Thanks!

Why cant we wear shoes with logos like Nike or Adidas? I mean in reality I've seen many real nurses wear logos and colored shoes, so I don't really understand. Why does it matter

If some of you are busying used/renting textbooks, ones needing access codes, how are you renting them? Because in my experience whenever I rented a text book, I had to buy an access code separately and it was like $100
