Broward College Nursing January 2012

U.S.A. Florida

Hey everyone!

This is a thread for anyone applying for the January 2012 class at Broward college for the generic nursing track. July 16th was the date to start applying and I believe it closes sometime in October. How many points does everyone have? I had to defer my seat so I will be starting in January for sure at north campus! :D if I can be of any help with questions pertaining to getting in or the HESI I will be glad to help! Good luck everyone!!

What books do we need to get? i would like reading from now. I am going to south campus.

Hi Everyone! I see that the class, CAE0612, Introduction to Math for Nurses is now available. I read an older post that stated that this class really helped this new nursing student and was the best investment he made.

I am trying to arrange my schedule so that I can take this course. It will be tough to learn dosages and conversions while taking all the other nursing process 1 courses and having 2 tries to pass it with a 90% or above.

Is anyone else taking this course also??

I tried to look for the class today but nothing shows up. Do you know if the code changed?

Does anybody know when we hear back about loans or scholarship applications? I submitted paperwork to see if I would be eligible to receive a scholarship and requested a loan at the beginning of October and still HAVE HEARD NOTHING back.... Egan doesn't write me back about the ?s i have with the J form... I tried emailing another financial advisor with no response. I don't want to walk in and wait for two hours in the financial aid office and find out they have no information rather than someone RESPONDING to my email and letting me know when I should expect a response... Plus the financial aid office is open during my work hours..... BC is so frustrating!!!

It does take awhile. They can be frustrating but Im sure they are working on it now as the deadline for payment is December 5. I was just notified today about a scholarship. I know Egan is swamped so you will probably find out in the next couple of weeks depending upon when you submitted your application. I went in myself to find out about the loan I requested as a back up because I wasnt hearing anything either. Make sure everything is completed under your Financial Aid tab so the process wont be backed up. It would probably be best to speak to someone in person.Thats when I finally received some clarification. Good Luck!

Hi Yadi84, the course still shows CAE0612 for Fall Term.

When I tried to register for this class, I received an error message of "scheduling conflict". So, I emailed my academic advisor. She advised me to have my Fall term instructors email Greta Jackson,***** *******, a registration advisor. In their email they stated they grant permission for me to take CAE0612. I eventually contacted ***** ******* over the phone. Ms. ******* was able to register me for the class since both my Fall term instructors had sent her an email granting me permission to take the class.

Seems like a lot of trouble, but I know that this course will help me in the long run with the theory of dosage/usage conversions before the program starts. It will be less stress of knowing this concept before starting the MTB1370 class and while trying to learn all of the other nursing process I concepts. :-)

I went to the 365 doctors, omg!! i dont remember if i went there on monday , but just keep your mind to spent a leat 4 housr there .people are really niceeee special the girl at the front desk . Also the person who does the physical they are student from nova , she will do your physical examen and the physician' assistance will sign the paper for bcc, i spent likw $ 200 ihave to do the X-ray for the tubeculosis. The girl who will take your blood out for the titer ,also a nurse student from nova.

I went to 365 Doctors today and got everything done for 179.00 and the staff was REALLY NICE! Good place to go if you don't have insurance, rates were better than anyplace else.

OK central peoples tomorrows the big day for orientation... CANT WAIT... Im sooooooooo excited. I cant wait to start so the days can fly by. I mean we will be so busy with everything that it will seem like we just started and we will be graduating. I cant wait to eat, sleep, and poop nursing stuff. Its gonna be a blast. Don't forget the times to be at orientation tomorrow, because i heard if your late you wont be allowed in. AND ITS MANDATORY... Refer to email for location and times. Hoping you all the best... GO CENTRAL!!!!

the names of my teachers changed... did others look at there schedule and notice this as well? ****** ********* and ******** ******... i cant even find ratings of them online...

and then for nursing process 1 i have anissa harris smith and she has really bad ratings... This is really disappointing. Having a good teacher really does make all the difference in the world.

Hello classmates,

I wanted to respond to the girl who doesnt have the funds to pay for school. of all else fails, go to SalliMae and get a loan. After all, you'll be a registered nurse when youre done. I had to do it and it took about a week. I got $6,000, which will cover the whole program. You can request more for residential expenses as well. Try fafsa loans first if the grant from workforce 1 doesn't work for you. God bless us! We will be fine!

Ill be at central campus and yes, they did have everyone register for 1 class and then they split us up. Britt123, we will be in nur proc together. the ratings are terrible and i swear by ratemyprofessor.com, but we don't have a choice. We will just have to teach ourselves.

someone mentioned books, the nursing department sec gave me a print out of all the materials needed and the prices.. books, uniform, the whole 9. If you're paying out of pocket, find the books online. I've already started reading the fundamentals of nursing which is the main book for processing.

Is there anyway you can post that list?..I will really appreciate if you can and if you can't that okay...I find I have little time and with my kids being home next week my time is even more limited.
