Broward College Nursing January 2012

Hey everyone!

This is a thread for anyone applying for the January 2012 class at Broward college for the generic nursing track. July 16th was the date to start applying and I believe it closes sometime in October. How many points does everyone have? I had to defer my seat so I will be starting in January for sure at north campus! if I can be of any help with questions pertaining to getting in or the HESI I will be glad to help! Today i turned in my application, i ask the lady couple questions. she told me usually they have 700-1000 applications. most of the time they take 300 people only but this fall they only take 250. it s very competitive. for a 3.2o nursing gpa they only gave me 6 points out of 16. wow i wonder how do they calculate that.

@ Sweething24...Its based on a system...you can find this on the Broward College website (nursing program)...I believe its something like this.. 4.0 = 16pts, 3.9 = 15pts, 3.8 = 14pts, 3.7 = 13pts, 3.6 = 12pts, 3.5 = 11pts, 3.4 = 10pts, 3.3 = 9pts, 3.2 = 8pts, 3.1 = 7pts, 3.0 = 6pts....Plus...If you live in Broward County you get an additional (1) point....What grades did you receive for the 6 prerequisite classes?? The 3.2 gpa you mentioned early...Is it for the prerequisites or is it cumulative??

3.2 was my overhall gpa. but i think it was the nursing gpa also because my advisor made me take REL and PSY she said those courses will count toward the nursing program. that s where i got confuse. i had B in all the nursing prep i only have one A for A&p 2 lab. thanks to clarifie that for me! after all i guess they are right giving me 6 points.

Ok, so I turned in my application last week and now they posted my points as 7. However, my pre req GPA is 3.85, which should have gotten me 14 points right? I am so stressed out that I got granted less points than I deserve. My HESI scores are all above 90%. Does anyone know what the cut offs are this term? Thank you!

Hey, I am hoping for some advice! I want to apply for the Jan 2012 term as well.. I have completed all of my pre-req courses, my GPA for my pre-reqs is a 3.57, but I took the HESI today.. My overall was an 85%..

92%-Math

86%-Reading

86%-Grammar

86%-Vocab

76%- AP

I was sooo shocked I did so poorly in AP.. I just aced it over the Summer. But my main concern was Math, so when studying, that was my focus.. and obviously did not have a problem with it! I wanted to know what thoughts were on a retake?? BC will get both scores anyways right? Is it worth it to retake, would it increase my chances for acceptance?

Suggestions from anyone who has any insight or familiar at all with this would be REALLY appreciated?
