Broward college Nursing Jan 2015

Published

Hello, this is a thread for any current nursing students at Broward college or those who have recently been accepted. I'm a bit confused on Broward's admission criteria. What classes exactly do they use to calculate the gpa?

No apologies needed. Which courses exactly on ceufast.com are we to have completed? Id like to start working on them now. Thanks =)

They recently added a new course requirement with the HSC courses it's called CAE0644 Florida Laws and Rules for Nursing and Respiratory Care.. But it doesn't let me take the course, it states I need a special permission. Does anyone know anything about this? Any info would be helpful!

I completed all the HSC courses at BC. Just a heads up, financial aid does NOT pay for the courses anymore; I was so disappointed when I chose my courses it seemed as if financial aid paid for them but a couple weeks after completing the classes I noticed I had funds dues back to the school and when I asked why they said those courses aren't covered by financial aid anymore. It's ridiculous how when you first pick the courses it seems as though financial aid is covering it and later on you have to pay back SMH I was p*ssed off.

I suggest you guys use the ceufast.com to complete these courses for your certificates, its wayyy cheaper but you'll have to take a extra course to cover the hours needed.

Same exact thing I had to go through! Its ridiculous! After I saw that I was content that all fees were covered so I never went back on my bc account. Weeks later I receive a bill in the mail saying I will be sent to collections due to unpaid fees. WTFreak Broward College?! So I had to pay for my classes and a collections fee. Dont even bother calling financial aid either, they are no help and have a different answer every time. Never again, Im constantly checking my bc account now because it seems my financial aid no longer exist. Smh :madface::cautious:

In no means am I telling you guys not to use BC for the courses, ceufast.com is just a suggestion. This was my experience and I don't know if you'll go through it as well.

The courses needed are:

*CPR- 8hrs (has to be through the American Heart Association).. Don't think it's offered on ceufast though so try fastcna.com Paramount training $49 (google it)

*HIV/AIDS 4hrs

*Prevention of Medical Errors 2hrs

*Domestic Violence 2hrs

*TB/OSHA/Hepatitis 6hrs

*Florida Laws and Rule for Nursing 2hrs

I've seen in other threads that the hours on ceufast.com don't match up so just check their hours and be sure.

Call Nicole and she would definitely be able to help with that. People from the August term were also having trouble registering for it.

Hi, I just signed up for this class with Broward College. Its $15. I had the same error message when selecting the class with the earlier date. I selected the later class that begins 12/08 and then I did not get that error message again. Try that.

SMH.. BC needs to get their act together. These unexpected fees are apart of the reason I had to defer from the August program. When I saw that I owed $155.31 it completely threw me off and I HAD to pay it because I couldn't take my HESI without it being paid SMH. I just hope everything goes fine this time around and I can finally start in January *fingers crossed*

The ceufast is Florida laws and rules that govern the practice of nursing. I did it without any problems.

Specializes in Telemetry, IMCU.

You actually have to take the BC class. That's what we were told before we restarted this term.

Yes that worked thank you!! :)

Sorry I sent to early... The class worked after I picked a later date, thank you!!

@ Be(you)tiful Hello How has the program been In your opinion? Are all the horror stories true? Also by having to retrack does that mean you had to go to LPN school and are you now an LPN? Just trying to make sure im fully understanding. Any info your willing to give will be greatly appreciated.

To answer you question. No I am not an LPN. You are giving what some of us call "1 golden ticket" that is the first time you enter the program. You want to do your very best to not fail. If you do fail like myself you will have to go to through a process of taking the TABE reading test, Skills Review (that's if you are out of the clinical setting for more than 6 weeks) which you will be. Also you will take SLS class geared towards nursing.

I would suggest if you can get the book and start reading Chapters 1,2,3,6,39,28,29,30, as a start you will be ahead of most. You can fail by less that 1/2 a point. The Professors don't play. Also The Fundmamentals of Success book by Nugent & Vitale. Will help to train you in thinking and answering nursing questions correctly. That's my advice to you all.
