Hi! I know it's pretty early to start a thread for fall but I just wanted to see somewhat of what other people have in their classes and HESI. I have to retake the anatomy portion of the test but everything else I passed, and I have a GPA of 3.18. Also, I was in another nursing program before this and didn't do so well because of what was going on in my life during that time. Do you think this will be a big issue regarding getting in??
Ok, understood. I am applying for the January 2019 pool. Let us assume that the applicant pool for that semester is going to be competitive, and that alternates are students with a minimum prerequisites 3.5 GPA (11 points). What if I had a prerequistes 3.5 GPA and the another student had 3.59 (both of us on 11 points), would the student with the higher prerequisite GPA be admitted over me even thouhg we have the same number of points?
Thanks.
Yes. They would. GPAs are not rounded. It has always been like that. For instance, students who have 6 points normally have either 3.0 or 3.09. If there is a point tie, first thing we look at is pre-req GPA to rank. If there is a tie with that GPA (which happened with our 8 point students) we look at overall GPA.

Thank you very much for your quick responses and for being supportive and helpful. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday.
No HESI was not the tie breaker. Overall GPA was. There were more applicants with 8 points than we had seats for.
I am an alternate and would like to find out how far in that list I am. What would be the best way to contact you? And also thank you for being so informative through this process!!

Hi everyone,
Please do not email me and ask if you can change your session time unless you have a valid excuse (my friends are attending another session is not a valid reason). The room only seats a certain number of students and I have to make sure I do not overbook the room. Everyone will receive the same information in all 3 sessions. Attending Tuesday does not give anyone an advantage over someone who is attending the Wednesday session.
Thanks,
Nichole
Here's the book I got feo. The BCC bookstoreTest success

Thanks for posting this! This will definitely help with getting us to start thinking CRITICALLY about questions and scenarios (test and in real life) we will be faced with. I would go to the Bookstore (or online BC Bookstore, if possible) and type NUR and see what comes up...or if you go in person, take pics of the class numbers/book info. This will help give an idea of what's to come, even in classes beyond Nursing Process I. One good place to start is ONE of the books used for NUR1020 (there seem to be a lot in total FYI):
Fundamentals of Nursing, 9th Ed.
by Potter, Perry, Stockert, & Hall
There is also a study guide workbook you can purchase with it as well that helps get through the book with more focus. Here's a link for it on Amazon: Fundamentals of Nursing, 9e: 978
Hey everyone! Congrats to those who were accepted, and good luck to those who are alternates! If you didn't get in this time, DON'T GIVE UP!! If Nursing is truly your dream, FIND A WAY to do it!! Either way, take time to reflect on "WHAT IS MY NEXT RIGHT MOVE?" (suggested by Oprah, when something doesn't work out the way you hoped...sometimes "failure" is just redirection to reflect on your life path. FYI, I don't believe in "failure"...or regret). Don't ruminate, but do sit still and reflect on what's best for you in this given moment. Listen to the voice within, you know the way.
I am looking forward to meeting many of you! Thank you, Nichole, for your hard work and for keeping us posted via the forum. It definitely takes more time and energy to read concerns and post and still deal with student walk-ins on a daily basis, so THANK YOU for all that you do!!
