This thread was created for those attending Broward College North Campus in January 2011! We got accepted....let's do this:hpygrp:!!

I think that once you pick your classes and all the classes are full you can't. Have you tried emailing the dean directly? She has been good about answering emails promptly. I am sure if you have good reason there is something they can work out with you I hope. Good Luck!

I ment if there is an opening...........Since we already turned in our papers I wont to make sure before I switch

I don't see why they wouldn't let you if there is an opening. School hasn't started yet. Email the dean directly and good luck :)

Where did you guys hear that we can't have the flare leg scrub bottoms? My friend is in the program now and that's what she wears. She said they are just picky about the color matching the top exactly.

Someone said they didn't want the flare pants with the slits. Then someone else said that our professor said no flare pants and no cargo pockets. They have to be like the ones in the bookstore. I'm not sure so I'm just going to wait until the first day and see what they say about the pants.

i was just at the bookstore at north campus on friday 12/17 and they are now selling the pants with pockets on the side by the knee. i did not see any with flare.

oh yeah, and the modules we dont need to buy for nur 1. they'll be available for us to print off line; i think the week before school starts.

according to professor ******* we do need to buy the modules. it was stated in the welcome message letter. this is what the professor said:

  • you'll need to purchase the modules for the course. this packet contains learner objectives and course outcomes for the course.

you will not need to purchase packets for nursing process 1, nur1020 (theory) or nursing process 1 lab (clinical) nur1020l. for nur1020l, which is nursing process 1 lab, the required materials are available for download and printing from my web site.

I sent the professor an email about the pants and she told me that "official" answer is Yes the pockets matter. But if the "unofficial" is as long as you don't stuff the with things and make yourself look sloppy that it is not an issue. I bought mine with the pockets because those are the only ones I could find. Everywhere I went they had pockets. I don't know about flare though.

Does anyone know exactly what books we would need to take with us to school everyday? I am a little overwhelmed with all of them!

Has anyone checked their school email? Just checked mine-got email dtd 12/09 concerning my documents. Seems that I'm missing the Core curriculum certificate(didn't know we needed to turn that one in too) and my original PE which I did turn in:confused:. Will have to wait until 1/3 to rectify.

They told us at orientation to check our email at least once a day. I think that there is a way to forward it to your regular email. I think someone else on here got an email about missing something. :) Good Luck! See everyone very soon!!! :)

Thanks ralphi. You're right-you can forward it.

Hi,

I'm very excited to be starting in January at North Campus. This is my first experience in nursing of any kind and it's a career change for me from having been a technical writer and college teacher (business school) in the past.

Someone mentioned that there is a way to forward all email sent to our Broward.edu email addresses on to our personal email. Here's the way to do it:

  1. Log in to your Broward.edu email account
  2. Near the top of page, below the date, you'll see three icons. Select the middle one: Options
  3. Select the Mail Management tab
  4. Select "Yes" where it says, "Forward all messages"
  5. Choose "Yes" where it says, "Keep copy," if you'd like to a keep copies of all emails sent to your Broward.edu inbox in that location
  6. In the box where it says, "Forward to:" type your personal email address

That's all you have to do to have your broward emails forwarded to your personal email address. Test that you've done this correctly by sending and email to your broward.edu email address and be sure it is forwarded to your personal email address.

One caution is, if you want to send an email to a BC professor or anyone else with a broward.edu email address, send it FROM YOUR BROWARD.EDU EMAIL ACCOUNT. I've been told that for security reasons, emails from outside emails may be deleted automatically.

If there are any other students who, like me, are from Boca or nearby, let me know.

Thanks for all your help. Stay healthy, happy, and focused.
