Broward College May 2017

Anyone Applying to the May 2017 program? I wanted to get into the January program but I was missing a math class and couldn't complete it in time for the January program.

what text to speech software?

I would read everything and do NCLEX-style practice questions especially in the two days before tests. I found that text-to-speech (TTS) software helps me stay focused when reading.

For clinical and return demo you really just have to go over the skills over and over and over again until it's just muscle memory. It feels like rehearsing for a play, in a way.

are you currently in the program?

It is a full time program and not very flexible with the times but some students manage to work anyway.

The first semester you'll be registered for:

Pharmacology (full semester)

A math class (it's maybe 3 weeks long, can't really remember)

Process 1 lecture (first half semester)

Process 1 clinical (first half semester)

Process 2 lecture (second half semester)

Process 2 clinical (second half semester)

Yes, I'm in GIGU.

are you currently in the program?

What is the point system everyone is talking about?

I have a 3.6 in the pre-reqs (A&P1&2 A's, Enc1101 B, A&P1lab B, A&P2lab A)

but I'm not sure what my points would be or even how to calculate it ... help ?

Does anyone know what the program is like at first? Will it require you full time or can you take classes whenever you'd like?

the program is full time. the first 6 weeks will be brutal; 4 classes.

you have math for 4 weeks, then take your math test, which you get 2 tries to get a 90% or above. If you fail, you don't goto clinical.

theory will be 2 days a week. I believe it's 4 hours each class due to the shorter semester.

clinical will initially be on campus 2 days a week. If you pass return demo & the math test, you'll drop down to once a week, a 12 hour day at the hospital.

on top of on campus days, you'll have studying, and mandatory campus lab hours to fit in.

keep in mind once you get past the first semester, your workload stays the same if not doubles in the advanced courses. You'll have more assignments & projects for clinical, more lab hours, simulation, etc.

Awesome what is the text to speech software you are talking about??

Yes, I'm in GIGU.

Wow! This really helps. Thank you!

Thank you!!! I'm so nervous! I feel like I need to start studying the math now.. haha

is that the setting from the iphone?

here's an example of TTS reading the wikipedia article on peptic ulcer disease

on my mac I just use text2speech (that's what it's called, generic name), it's in the app store. the soundcloud clip is actually powered by IBM bluemix though.

is that the setting from the iphone?

Yeah, the math test is serious and a lot of people retrack because of it. I've never failed one. At central they make it unfairly tricky/ambiguous and create a stressful environment for the test, probably by design.

Thank you!!! I'm so nervous! I feel like I need to start studying the math now.. haha

I was talking to a classmate and she said that BC now offers BSN? Am I just slow on the news? Has anyone else heard about this. I feel silly I didn't know.
