Broward College May 2016 RN program

Published

Just wanted to start a thread for Broward's May '16 RN program! I'm finishing up my application process this week.

My hesi was a 87% overall, with 90's in Math, Reading, and Vocabulary, an 84% in grammar, and a 80% in AP.

My prerequisite GPA is a 4.0

Are you all using the updated Fundamentals of Nursing 9e or 8e?

I can't find any info on the 9th edition. Where did you guys see there's a 9th edition?

they said we have to pass return demo otherwise we fail the whole program; we only have 2 tries to do so.

Check with the program office on that. I think its that if you do not pass your return demo you fail process I not dismissed from the entire program. You will have to do remediation and retake the course.

What did they say about return demo?

I was in the 9 am orientation and didn't hear anything about that. I also couldn't hear a lot because people were talking over Nichole.

I loved how tough she was though! I like "no nonsense" attitudes. People kept asking the same questions over and over and even kept questioning her. It drove me crazy!!!

Anywho, does anyone know if we can buy the tops somewhere else and get them embroidered? I hear the campus tops fade fast. I plan on going for Central if that makes any difference.

If you are unsure of anything, just shoot me an email. Yes, I repeated myself many times yesterday. The meetings are always like that. But I enjoy my job and am not normally as tough as I am in the meetings when you see me in the office LOL. Our entire health science team wants to see you be successful!

ok, thanks! Maybe I just understood that wrong then.

I've been using the 8th edition

Seriously, thank you to all of you who are ahead! Just being able to read these pdf versions of the books helps have some kind of insight of the information that will be provided. I've only begun my application process, as it also has not changed after 3 weeks. I expected it since I have kept up with your whole journey on this forum and feel so much more in the loop, although I'm sure I have tons more to be informed about. Good luck to all of you! So excited for all of you and I can't wait to join you all in August. *fingers crossed that I'll be admitted* but again thank you for the PDFs, its such beautiful thing when you have other people willing to help others! XOXO

Anyone know where I can get the titers blood test done for cheap? Does the health department work for that?

Anyone that attended the orientation has the email of the financial aid guy that nicole told us to write down? I could have swore that I wrote it down but I can't find it.

Love this! Especially since nursing has a reputation for being brutal to one another. I hope this generation of nurses are known for camaraderie. Firefighters and police stick together and so should we. We are about to start the hardest academic 18 months of our life. We are not alone and have each other so we should support and encourage one another. I know I'm available for questions just like I'm open to learning from others. If we stick together we can get through this!

well said birdyy!! I look at it like this;

we're going to be taking care of our fellow human beings..they have to be tough on us for a reason. We're in charge of someone's loved one.

Let's support one another, lean on one another and learn!
