Broward College May 2016 RN program

Published

Just wanted to start a thread for Broward's May '16 RN program! I'm finishing up my application process this week.

My hesi was a 87% overall, with 90's in Math, Reading, and Vocabulary, an 84% in grammar, and a 80% in AP.

My prerequisite GPA is a 4.0

If I may, I would like to add something about the pre-orientation meeting.

My dear friend Nichole speaks the truth.

When she says "titers are required", she means it. When she says, "you are expected to meet the deadlines set by the campus", she means that too. When she says, "if you have any questions, call the campus you are registered and ask them", the nursing department will answer your call and attempt to help.

Nichole has worked with the nursing department for years. She would never point a new student in the wrong direction; so when she "strongly encourages" or "recommends" something, it is based on experience and probably worth a second thought.

She will provide you the information you need in order to walk through the door. What you do when you get to the other side is up to you.

Thanks Dr. Stauffer! :)

do we need to wear anything specific?

There is no set dress code for the pre-admissions session. However, please be presentable. No short shorts, low cut tops, short skirts or dresses. No Pajamas. No see through shirts, skirts, pants, etc...

see everyone tomorrow! don't forget a pen :)

Alright, well that was informative! I'll have to get off on Apr 6th so I can register early!!

True!

Hey, what website did you mention beforehand for the CAE courses?

CEUFast.com - The Fastest, Easiest way to fulfill your Nursing Continuing Education Contact Hours online!

i forgot to ask nicole if the new course they put up is acceptable;

they added a florida laws and rules for nurses.

Thanks :)

I bet you can email her and ask. Lmk

So what did everyone think?? So crazy to see so many people and know that many won't even make it past the first semester. Hopefully me not included.

I'm apprehensive, but going in with an open mind and plan on staying in the program. No way will I let myself fail out. Work hard, study efficiently, ask questions, learn in order to apply, not just to memorize...can't psych ourselves out!

I'm scared mostly about cutting back on my hours; but I contacted my job as far as my health insurance eligibility, and I've worked enough hours that I'm good until middle of next year. Hearing about return demo was a bit crazy...lots of time practicing skills.

guys, tell me if this works; I loaded the pharmacology pdf onto my google drive and changed the privacy settings. Hoping you can download it now.

What did they say about return demo?

I was in the 9 am orientation and didn't hear anything about that. I also couldn't hear a lot because people were talking over Nichole.

I loved how tough she was though! I like "no nonsense" attitudes. People kept asking the same questions over and over and even kept questioning her. It drove me crazy!!!

Anywho, does anyone know if we can buy the tops somewhere else and get them embroidered? I hear the campus tops fade fast. I plan on going for Central if that makes any difference.

they said we have to pass return demo otherwise we fail the whole program; we only have 2 tries to do so.
