Broward College May 2016 RN program

Published

Just wanted to start a thread for Broward's May '16 RN program! I'm finishing up my application process this week.

My hesi was a 87% overall, with 90's in Math, Reading, and Vocabulary, an 84% in grammar, and a 80% in AP.

My prerequisite GPA is a 4.0

Hey ya'll it's been quiet in here lately.

I was wondering if any current students from central can clarify the shoe policy for the program. My birthday is coming up and I want to ask for the shoes as a gift from my parents. Some clarifications I need:

All white and all leather, correct?

Can we use Nurse Mates shoes? (I'll attach the pictures of possible candidates)

Any logo allowed? Small logo? Nike check mark okay? Or maybe New Balance "N"? Can get away with skechers?

In all reality the one shoes that have not killed my feet after standing for long hrs are Nike's. I just need some guidance. The shoes I got from Payless hurt my feet so bad after a few days. Not sure why, maybe its my weird toes. I don't know. lol :roflmao:

PLEASE HELP running out of time.

How do you know which chapters to read? I read through the syllabus that someone posted and I didn't see anything that mentioned vital signs... Just curious where you knew to read that chapter and if you have any other info you can give to help me get a head start in the book/ note taking - thanks!

there have been several students who recommend reading vital signs, which makes sense if we will be learning to do assessments first semester.

there was also one or two people who suggested reading at least:

- vital signs

- physical and health assessment

- all the chapters in the nursing process

someone said earlier if it has a logo it should be all white. no colors :)

I was just asking to clarify. I didn't know it was mentioned by others earlier. Thank u for the info.

anyone think we could get away with using a prior edition of some of the books? Done that before, it didn't seem to make a difference.

Shouldn't be a problem if it's 1 or 2 editions back

Do we need to have our HSC certifications completed before the pre-admissions meeting? Also how do we find out what classes we will need for that, where to go for that, and how to prove our completion?

Sorry, I take this back. Another poster said the professors reference specifically from the latest edition books

nicole said we would learn all of that at orientation, they prefer we don't complete them before.

would it be that huge of a discrepancy do you think? I'm seeing books that are only 1 edition old. (8th) edition, new semester shows the 9th edition.

So have we been reading the wrong edition (8e) of Perry and Potter fundamentals of Nursing? Because there's a 9th edition
