What campus are you attending? I'm trying to find classmates at the Central campus:)
Thanks everyone for your help! I enrolled in the program at Sheridan Tech yesterday to finish up the class to be able to apply. It starts the 23rd of August and doesn't end until Sept. 14th, but its an online class that you are able to go at your own pace. They told me if I can complete all the work for the course by Sept 10th then they will print the certificate in time to make the deadline to apply at BC. WHeeewww!! Now I have to take the HESI! I found the study guide at Barnes and Nobles and looked over it yesterday...doesn't seem like it will be to difficult. Just worried about the A & P section. I am really going to have to brush up on that since I took both classes a year ago! I read on the BC website that there are no required test scores to achieve, but that they do review them. Good luck to everyone!
I'm new to the site so I may have missed it, but are there any other places you know of to do the HCP/Core classes? I'm trying to apply for the January group, but BCC's HCP class ends way after the deadline and I didn't notice until now. I called Sheridan Tech & their online Core class is full (online would of been great!) I've also found nursing unlimted, but it ends a week after the deadline. Please help! I don't want to wait to January to apply because I spent all summer doing the A&P's to apply!
Hello everyone! To follow up on my wife's post, go to CEUFast.com and you can get all your CEUs (medical error prevention, etc.) done online for $30. For your BLS, check out BLS CPR Initial Classes | American Heart Association Classes. They have three locations (one in Plantation) that offers BLS for $95 including the book, and it's the 4 hour course instead of the 8 that Broward offers (their course is $95 plus the cost of the book anyways).
I'm taking the Micro practical Thursday, and I'll be done for the summer! The Thursday after I'm taking the HESI, then applying as soon as I get my results and grades are up.
How long does everything take? HESI scores, knowing when you've been accepted, etc.? I'm so impatient to start already lol
Hi thanks so much for this, it was exactly what I was looking for. How do you know which certifications are the ones needed for BC? How long does each test take? Thanks again.

Just wanted to make sure you realize you don't have to take those classes until you are accepted into the program; they simply have to be done before the start date. What does need to be done before you can even apply is the HCP class. At Broward those do not include CEU's, but I heard at Sheridan Tech they do.

Ohhh! You're very right I had it confused. I thought the HCP/CEU's were the same. Wow, that would of been embarrassing when I was trying to apply. I still need to find a Core/HCP class then. I wonder if I beg the Sheridan Tech lady if she'd allow me in because that seems like my only chance as of now.
Let me know if you know of any place. Thanks a lot for the info!

Hello. I am starting the nursing program for Broward next week! And just want to share with you what I did. It is true that the CEU and HCP/core class is not the same thing. At Sheridan Tech the CORE class INCLUDES all the CEU's, so when you are finished with the core class at Sheridan Tech you will have all of your CEU's completed including CPR. BC accepted all of these from me with no problems. I did the online core class at Sheridan Tech which is super easy.
For your information about the HESI, I did my test at FAU and they print the results for you RIGHT AFTER you are done. I took these scores into the Health Science admissions along with my application and they accepted that. Now as far as waiting to hear if you were accepted, it usually takes up to 30 days after the application deadline to hear from them. The last application period was very weird though because they just implemented the HESI test and was very confusing for all. I had turned in all my paperwork at the end of June and was accepted that day because I had a lot of points, but like I said, the last application period was extremely unorganized and different than they usually do it. Good luck to all of you and if there is anything I can answer I would be happy to help. Wish me luck starting next week.
I just registered for the Core class at Sheridan but I haven't heard anything back yet. Do they email you all of the information? Do you have to get a textbook? And how much work is involved since I am trying to finish the course by the applications deadline, Sept 15. I'd appreciate any info! Thanks!!
Did you register for the online course or the face to face course? I took the online course and we only had to buy the CPR book. When I registered at the school they told me where I had to go on campus for an orientation for online students. At that orientation we received all the information for our log ins and course information as well as we had to sign up for a day to attend the face to face CPR portion of the class. Hope this helps.

You have to buy the CPR book only everything else was online for me. I completed the course in 2 days.
