Broward College January 2011

Published

New thread started for all those applying for / accepted to / attending Broward College January 2011. Chime in, let us know how you're doing!

I paid for the background check today....hoping to get the 29 dollar fee paid by Monday and I'll be going into the college then as well to make sure I don't have anything barring me from registering on the 3rd..... : ) I also have an appt scheduled with my pcp for the full physical and shots. Hoping to have everything taken care of by the 10th at the latest and just waiting for results. I think the physical will take the longest to get back and the earliest appt was on the 9th....

I know how u feel. I will do fingerprints last. Did u get all of your ceus/certificates for HIV/AIDS, OSHA, TB, etc..?

I do have all of those done. I'm running around doing background checks and physicals and shots, registration fees, etc....my head is spinning with all the stuff. Then on top of that, I want to start buying books because that 3k quota was a bit out of my price range and I know the bookstores will always sell things at a higher price than online......wish they'd email schedules and book lists already....so anxious just to get it all done and over with. you know to be 100% positive that I'm in....

Thanks for the schedule! =] one question.. at orientation, we were told the labs will start at 8, since no one is there at 6:30 am and we wont be doing clinicals at the hospital yet..

True.. I think the 6:30am is for when we're at the Hospital but the labs at school will start at 8! (Thank God)

seriously lol.. i cant remember the last time i had to be somewhere important at 6:30am!! the first week we're all going to be soo excited we cant sleep and we'll wake up early subconsciously

Both of us are in the same situation, far as books goes. I have to complete the ceus. I had a physical done in the summer along with blood test that included the immunizations. I just have to get the forms filled out. I guess she was right about the 1st semester being expensive.

Amazon.com has pretty reasonable prices on used texts. They also buy back books. They have a free Student Membership you can sign up for and you get free 2-day shipping on everything for a year. Every penny counts, right? Just thought some of you might be interested in it!

Can you plese e-mail me the book list and the information you got from south campus i havent received anything

Happy Halloween, everyone!!!!! :jester:

PS- Haven't gotten my e-mails about the campus schedules (any of them) yet (attended the orientation on the 28th at 1 pm), but am expecting them Monday. Did notice a new designation on my degree audit, Nursing student-expecting that'll let me register for classes. Hope we DO get our e-mails before Wednesday....

Question for anyone that might know- I took AP English way back when in hs and so there's an X marked in the ENC box for that class, and in orienation the woman was talking about needing an override for classes if you transferred with them or took them AP as I did. (I was the one in the front asking all of the annoying questions, if anyone attended the 1 pm session.) So, does the X next to ENC mean I've got the ''override'' since it appears to mean according to BC I have credit for that class? I've e-mailed health science about it and advising, yet to receive a response. Hoping to get one Monday (you'd think they'd respond sooner to Nursing students who are JUST ABOUT TO REGISTER FOR THEIR CLASSES.) If I don't get e-mails and answers early Monday, I'm going in in the afternoon and seeing that ''fast track'' advisor we heard about during orientation. I don't want any nasty surprises when trying to register, and I certainly would love to know my schedule TO be ABLE to register!!

ANYONE ABLE TO PM ME THE SCHEDULE FOR CENTRAL CAMPUS COMPLETE WITH PROFESSOR NAMES? THAT WOULD BE SO AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Also- does everyone else who has attended orientation but not registered still have on their degree audit, under prgrm admt status an 'n' ?

My husband, also in the same boat we all are, supposes this is because we aren't ''official'' nursing students yet because we haven't turned in our drug screens and background checks, our CEUs, physicals, and whatnot. I'd guess he's right-he does tend to be in most situations. Sigh-husbands. ;)
